I did/do have an idea for one, but I don't find the premise interesting enough for me to want to write it.
It's sometime in the future, where the world is run by a council of great scientists/madmen, elected by the previous generation of scientists/madmen.
One such scientist is about to retire. He wants to go out with a bang, so he makes a VR-MMO type world with the excuses of "wanting to map out the human mind" and "gathering data for Ai learning."
The players of the VRMMOs are all volunteers who play the MMO like a job, and get points based on how well they preform to some (unknown) criteria.
The MC would be a decently-skilled character in a decently-skilled guild, and it would just be a comedy SoL about him playing the MMO and dying in stupid ways along with his guildmates.
Because it would be a slice of life, I have a lot of worldbuilding thoughts about what might make the story interesting:
1. Shopkeepers are Ai, so they're stupid and a nightmare to talk to.
2. The devs don't care about game balance, so every week they create a new batch of overpowered monsters that would rampage throughout the world.
3. All players would need psycological counciling once in a while to check their mental state, due to frequent deaths they experience.
4. Giant insects and other ugly monsters would exist. most people wants to go near them because they find them creepy.
