How I see SH:

1777749659153.png

A place full of gay retards that is predominatly smut, lgbtq, harem, gender bender, litrpg, etc. An emotional support group for attention seeking, essentially a bootleg twitter but with less racism and bigotry. Come get your head and ass pats until your try passing off ai written work as your own. Otherwise, it's like any other regular community, not too far off from being discord. You can discuss anything you want within reason and spam all the pictures and memes you want, make friends, be pretentious, cosplay, roleplay as a catgirl, lesmaxx with strangers, all the cool things.

How I see RR:

1777749827725.png

A land of fast-paced, hyper-competitive 'tech bros' that try to one-up each other via fantasy and litrpg. You won't get your uwus and headpats, you'll get real brutal honesty and criticism. If you're not performing well, nobody has time to pretend they care. Pussies and other sensitive types beware. You won't get your fix of constant reassurance, validation and attention. Most are established professional authors or others that take it seriously, more interested in marketing. So if your mindset is 'this is just how i write', prepare to get assblasted for being a lazy retard that doesn't want to improve and grow.

---

I'm neutral, if it was hard to tell. I can see the good and bad in both. However, lately my engagement has been consistent and better on RR than SH and I've had little problems with over there. Yet on SH it's been a handful of problems and dwindling engagement. Probably because I'm not writing gl litrpg hentai. :blobrofl:

Also atm, RR has this new ui thing going on which thankfully you can opt out of. Otherwise holy shit is it ugly and the formatting is weird. I hate it. They could of made it so much better but chose not to.

As for the stories itself, I would agree. Since my Season Two rolled around, I got a few new readers that actually write comments, and it's really fun to engage. I wasn't cool with the rating bombs, but my overall rating is still somewhat fine at 4 stars with 49 ratings. Good enough for me anyway.
SH is a lot quieter by comparison.
Still, the Forum will never stop being a hassle to me on RR.

Why? :blob_blank: I still think it's just plain mean-spirited. It has nothing to do with being thick-skinned or not, I just don't get it, Especially here - really, most people don't even give a shit, so it doesn't even have any gain.
I recently had someone rate my story 3 Stars and then change it to 1 Star. Don't really care.
I'd appreciate it, of course, if there was a reason for it that they would share, if they felt strongly enough to rate the story but not drop it, but I already accepted that people are stupid like that. It's just so annoying that the moron has to be from the same country as me, because it feels like a personal insult that this MolaMola was born and raised on the same ground as I was. Anyway, I don't think anybody cares here, and it doesn't hurt visibility either. (EDIT for reference: He's bird-brained not because of the rating, but because of other shit I saw on his profile - almost every comment he ever made is somewhat dog shit.)

RR forums kinda remind me of a sadder version of LinkedIn, because everyone on RR is always self-promoting or trying to trash-talk the new guys and gals. LinkedIn at least does those things in such a pretentious and obnoxious way that nobody can take it seriously.

Amen. SH has some of that as well. The influx of newbies making threads wanting feedback just to get eyes on their work and not entirely cause they want actual feedback, or making status posts about their stories and to check out their latest chapter as if people notice or care. Or the occasional person trying to advertise their story, but it comes off as ai generated, so everyone jumps on ai trash talk wagon. :blobrofl:

I don't think that's really true. Also, I don't think that "gay" equals "woke" - "Woke" just means you have no story and think it being gay makes it worthwhile. If that's not the case, I believe you just write a regular story with LBGT elements in it.
I feel like it's more about progressivism, but since LGBT is the most controversial part, people just use "woke" instead of "pro-LGBT" these days. :blob_hmm_two:

True, "Woke" is everything that has weaponized "progressivism" in it, masking shitty writing, bland or outright horrible characters, by being able to blame "toxic" whatever on the bad sales numbers. :blob_cookie:

I think "woke-washing" is a more accurate term. Tbf being woke has its good sides even if it's controversial.
It works just like green-washing or AI-washing. Nobody pulling those stunts admits they're "washing" anything, they just market it as being "woke", "advanced AI", or "saving the planet".

Not untrue. But in the end, nobody is really sure what's what anymore, either way, and the most used terms rule on their own. I, for my part, actually go with either "woke" or "weaponized progressiveness" - but the latter is just too long and clunky.
In general, I just dislike the way progressiveness has invaded stories at large. I don't give a shit about writing stories with progressive themes, but taking something that's already there and turning it into some homogenous sludge just ain't it. I also dislike change. If a character already existed, stay as true to it as you can; don't change it to whatever for no reason. Just write stories that actually entertain people, don't try to lecture them.
They should just write new stories and do whatever with them. Why pretend to be surprised when an installment of an old franchise tanked, after knowingly pissing off legacy fans? It's really not that hard to guess.

Btw. why do you carry your Signature as a constant message add-on? :sweating_profusely:

I also post my Gay Romance Webnovels on Royal Road, though they are both mostly on hiatus, because of my focus on my main story, they didn't get any negative impact, as far as I can tell. :blob_blank:

Hello there,

This is Wing/Maria, owner of RoyalRoadL aka Royal Road or (RRL). We are the leading online reading and writing platform for fiction, specifically in the niche categories LitRPG, Dungen core, reincarnation and so on. It has been few years since we launched our global platform RoyalRoadL (Mobile Apps will be available soon) and introduced a way to support the authors to create their success and to help the reader find never-ending stories.

What benefits do we provide?

1." Large traffic and better exposure: Unlike other general communities, our fanbase is super niche and focused—most of them are hungry for fiction. Decent traffic plus strong engagement will provide you with a larger fanbase and increase in popularity of your projects."

2. You can get creative in how you monetize your content if you wanted to, and you can grow your fanbase and receive support in your endeavours and work on creating fantastic worlds. You don’t need to take our word for it, if anyone monitored the stories on RoyalRoad you would know that this is a successful model for many authors who started out on RRL and made THEIR success as top-selling authors.

3.You get to keep all of your copyright, and we are clear about it. Feel free to read our Term of Service, no hassle, no doubt about this. No legal play on words to make you doubt your existence and if your thoughts belonged to you or someone else. Your work is your own. Our success is based on your success.

4. Readers get to read so many great gems, without having to face a paywall, or a moral dilemma where the readers can know, that the author is happy for publishing his novel on the platform, and is not someone who made a mistake or is stuck there out of fear of a lawsuit by a giant. (wink wink)

5. We have a great sense of community; if you want to speak with anyone, you can even talk directly with other readers, other authors, the staff, and especially me :D

If you are interested in our project, we strongly invite you to try our platform and services. To learn in detail about it, simply open our website. It is all clear - nothing is hidden, except for penguins on Easter.

But if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, and I will try my best to answer all of them.

This is what Wing (Maria Nassar) said in NUF. You can post LGBT stories there without getting any negative impact. Just don't expect the story to have the same amount of engagements as the super niche categories the site is made for.

Hasnt there been 2 changers in ownership since then?
