As an author, it would be great to reward followers somehow. Maybe by offering them chapters early, or special content?

Followers get notifications for:

• Profile posts by you on your own profile
• New series posted by you

And that's about it.

And since following is free, it would just make people follow anyone they remotely like to catch the bonus content, defeating the purpose of rewarding those who follow you of their own accord.
