I read something similar to that. I believe it was called the Death Mage doesn't want a fourth life. Basically the guy has a suckish first life and the second is even worse and he's forced with a third one where he finds some semblance of happiness. But the god who reincarnates him wants to kill him to move him onto a fourth life because he gained some power he shouldn't have.

Yeah I remember that one. It wasn't very popular as a light novel or manga, but I believe the anime is receiving quite a lot of popularity. It's also a harem story so if you like harem it's a very good one.

There's quite a lot in the genre of getting trapped or transported into a book. They also do the same for games but most of those tend to be directed towards female audiences mainly focusing on love. The best story I know about being trapped in a book that the person has read was The Greatest Estate Developer.

I've only come across one. A mage marries his familiar who had a hard life and wishes to make her happy. One his death bed he casts a spell and puts his soul inside a book to accompany her but the spell says she can never find out it's him or his soul will fade. I don't remember the name but it's a bittersweet love story.
I know one for this too. The MC get reincarnated as a world tree and goddess of the elves and has to rebuild her decimated believers population. It's called Game of the World Tree.

We also have one with tree-tree. But I stopped reading it for a while coz the setting is so depressing. I'm also waiting for the one with the Demonic Tree to be finished so I can read it in one go, it was quite interesting when I left it.
