On another site I harshly reviewed a person's sci-fi litrpg because of a mix of reasons 2 and 3. I also started feeling like the main character wasn't the main character because his skills didn't feel like mc material in an altered apocalyptic Earth where humans got special powers and abilities through a level system using nano machines to fight monsters, and other humans siding with an evil alien organization called The Collective, that essentially want to turn existence into black nothingness.I have, in my case it kind of bothers me when I leave a positive review and the author does something to mess with all the readers, such as:
1. Lock half the story behind a paywall such as Patreon or SubscribeStar (this is the one that convinced me to make this thread).
2. Not deliver on the genre/tags that were placed on the index.
3. Mislead people with their synopsis.
4. Abandon the story without any conclusion.
5. Lash out at commenters who actually like their story.
It makes me feel like I helped the author take advantage of any reader who read my review and decided to give the story a chance. I don't like to give negative reviews so I'll end up wishing I hadn't reviewed at all. None of these things are against Scribblehub's rules, however I'd like to direct other readers to something they might enjoy. Not something that'll leave them just as disappointed as it left me. In this case I'll leave the positive review I wrote, but I'm learning that reading more than a hundred chapters might not be enough to give a review, I might have to only review finished stories.
Long story short most people were giving it 5 stars but not me. Three people actually downvoted my review while one gave it a thumbs up. Tack in some weird, "Let's go to Asgard, Hell, and other mythological places on top of that," in the storyline's second book and I just had to pause it because those things don't sound like sci-fi litrpg elements! Oh, and did I mention there were political speeches filled with hope? And... Oh yeah, an evil brother that the mc barely foreshadowed at all!
Adding in multiple elements for your story just for the sake of it ticks me off if you can't connect it all together. Kill your multiple unnecessary plots writers if you do! That's why I will review you badly.
