Write a story about a whore and enter it in a lot of contests until someone gets butthurt and contacts the mods. Also, win a bunch of those contests ?

While I was writing this post, I learned that giving Husband a blowjob while sitting in an office chair and holding Baby in my lap is a good way to rock Baby to sleep.

This post gave me such a whiplash that it retroactively snapped my neck back in place.

Wattpad sold out to Naver which is a Korean company. So, while it is following the original guidelines, from what I know. Koreans really crack down on sexual violations. So, a lot of stories that has been violating this is going down by the mass. From what I can tell, if it is pornographic, underage, etc. Around those lines, it goes down. Other than that, it should be fine. However, probably won’t know the end result, and specifically what they are aiming for until the process is over.

Interesting. Thanks @Valmond. Did not know that Wattpad was sold to Naver.
Happened sometime this month I believe, that or last month. However, there has been some controversies to say. A lot does not know exactly how they are interpreting the sexual content violations. It might be on the Korean laws, or the Canadian for all we know. The words described are still vague. As far I know, it should be if it exists for sole sexual pleasure, that it does not tell a story. It can even be placed under graphical depiction. For instance, describing the action in detail will constitute as porn. Sexual violations also falls under the line of rape depicted in detail without a story. It also falls in line with underage, etc. Given how strict they are being with this, my guess is that they are taking everything into account for the violations. Which will also fall in line with the book covers, summaries, etc.

Anyway, there has been a lot of complaint. Pretty much by all the smut readers from what I can see. Then there are some that says After should be removed as well. It is a mess currently. Though, the previous owners left quite a problem. I can only gather that the newer ones are trying to clean up the site in order to properly push ahead a business schedule. Wattpad sold out for about $600M I believe.

Yeah. When shortly after I signed up on Wattpad, there were paid stories and another author told me that one time they didn't had any of the R-18 stuff. Even a cuss word in his book can get it rate or something. But by time I joined, man there were a lot of those interesting stories...I now know why many comments asked for jesus lol. out of the loop i guess.

I wonder if Wattpad founders sold it because they can't really deal with it anymore since its been going downhill. I heard maybe forums was closed last year I think? they didn't have actually staff moderating it, so it could easy get out of hand (reminds me of why clash of clan closed down the global chats ?. i hate the trolls but global chat, when it was not toxic, was cool to meet and recruit new team members). And ever since the Wattpad Paid books it got worse. I get Wattpad Paid program, but then I did not like the update where we could only select several of the stories in our library to be offline.:s_frown:

Yeah, the forums were closed. Support was next to impossible to get ahold of. Ambassadors abused their standing. Stories and accounts going down left, right, front, and center. Discrimination, hatred, etc. It went on and on. The ambassadors used to get so aggressive when simply asking for more information, or making some suggestions. It got to the point of where they were trying to divide people from what I could tell. The community became an unsafe place to be in. Even after the forums went down, this did not really stop. I should also mention the security breach that wattpad failed to tell us. It was some others that brought it to our attention first.

Their guidelines was another problem. I spoke with one of the people who ran the site themselves, and this guy was so vague. I asked various questions. Specifically on what would be a violation. However, it was the same old talking points. Needless to say, I didn’t really get anywhere. If I did discover one thing however. It is that, they definitely had little to no care for quality. Other things happened as well. When it came to mirror sites, I once tried to report it, get some advice on how to deal with it. I got an email that didn’t help me, and pretty sure they were threatening me. Also, I should mention it is next to impossible to get in contact with support. So yeah...not a good thing.

The site also suffered more and more from bugs. Ambassadors tried to adamantly defend the site, even though it was literally failing before our eyes.

I agree, the Wattpad paid program was a nice thing they had going. However, the company became more and more money hungry as it went along. Did I mention they have some kind of program, where you send your work in for evaluation for a paid amount, then get back statistic results? Thing is, you could simply do the individual checks yourself on different sites for free. Funny thing is, a year ago. I called it, I said they were either gonna shut down or sell out in a year time. No one believed me, ya know, it felt great to comeback and tell em it happened. ?

Do not doubt my insight. ?

But sadly people will continue to do that. ?

Yeah main reason why I stopped Wattpad was because of the security breach. Thank heavens its not my most important email, but still. sorry to hear that, i logged off from Wattpad for a writing hiatus in 2019 since I kind of was pretty stressed and was studying. Didn't know how it became so toxic.

One other thing I hated before the security breach though was that there were literally ads for pills and sex toys and there were bot accounts. They would friend you but then when you see their account, you will see that the story they have created was literally an advertisement. I think there was one even for strip club or not I don't remember. I reported it. For a place that's has a lot of teen readers, they don't really do much to curb all these inappropriate ads that shouldn't even be there in the face place. Like seriously? Reported dozen of times but there are limited options on how to report the story and it didn't really feel like it helped at all. I wonder if that was how they found out they got security breach - someone once said those spam accounts were just all those old emails and accounts people don't use on Wattpad anymore.

My guess is that Wattpad grew too big to manage. there are so many stories created every moment I think. so it'd be hard to manage damage control. for a site like theirs I'd imagine a thousand or hundreds of stories created a day and they will have to sort that out every day, not to mention in a year, which was inappropriate and that would be a nightmare. Also it didn't help that they didn't seem to have done management of the big issues until it got too big to handle.

Also weird was that they sent that security breach email but a friend or two didn't get it - at least one of them. got me so paranoid, luckily I don't keep same passwords for everything cause that would be stupid.

It really sucks though. someone suggested me on a poetry social app to take story to Wattpad and I thought Wattpad was really diverse. Cliché romance stories that are really popular aside, there were all kinds of stories and genre it seems like and it really allowed a lot of potential to grow too and get noticed by readers. Still hard to find something replace Wattpad completely. i may still go back to it someday...but not soon..
