My chapters are usually around the 40-50 view count, but lately my third last chapter got a huge bump by 4 times the view count. So it's over 200 views. And now my newest chapter is past 100 views.

I'm very grateful but the chapters before them didn't get the same boost in views, and it would make more sense if the first chapters received a boost in viewers and not the newest ones.

My question is, is there an explanation behind a sudden boost in views for the newest chapter? My story isn't short, it's over 100 chapters currently. I'm just curious to know why the sudden boost, I don't think i was trending this month as far as I'm aware :blob_hmm_two:

Could be the timing? Or the title of the chapter? I don't know. Ask tony.

No one truly knows reader behavior except the reader themselves. As authors, we can only guess based on implied patterns. Personally, I've noticed a pattern... readers tend to open random chapters that entertain them rather than following a series from chapter 1 sequentially. Chapters like intense battles tend to get more views because they're more entertaining and provide an instant dopamine rush than dark chapters that make readers shiver and cry.

Who's Tony? We're not talking about Fat Tony from Simpsons, are we? Is he about to make a deal I can't refuse? :blob_blank:
You don't say his name with low regards like that, catgirl. But yeah, ask Tony, the god of our presence in this godforsaken place.

Did you constantly refresh your browser on your newer chapters? You can simply press F5 10 times and you have 10 more views. Maybe someone has your chapter saved in their browser and thus opens it twice or so every day. There could be many reasons. Maybe refresh your old chapters' views by favoriting and unfavoriting (that updates the current views).

I feel like this is a secret only Tony should know. Oh god, why do I feel endangered. Oh no, this isn't a knowledge I should know.

What have you done? :blob_shock:

Oh its definitely not that! I opened up my browser days after publishing the newest chapter, and suddenly it had over 200 views.

Best guess? You were probably trending on those days. Not on the front page, but likely in the top 10+. New readers often click on the latest chapter to check the prose then decide whether to continue.
Another thing I have noticed is that an irregular uploading pattern tends to boost page views. That is, your loyal readers check the latest chapter more often to see if there are any updates

Ah - that would explain the spikes I saw in my successful story,
