I'm.... kinda slow. How do you guys host your future chapters on patreon? Do you post them, or make them downloadable?

OK so I'm not the only one who's had trouble figuring this out... :D Set up my Patreon back in ... April I think, and still haven't used it (then again some of my stuff may skirt or violate their rules so, haven't been in a great hurry...)

I think most people just post them, though I don't have a large sample size. Both options have merits. You can do both, if you have trouble deciding.

Yeah, I've seen both used, but yeah, post seems to be the far more common approach.

For downloads, usually there is a reason for them. Whether that be the author like to upload in bulk, spicy content which goes against TOS, they just prefer it that way, etc.

Just post them like you do in sh but with numbering for sure :)
But at least get backbase to start promoting your patreon

Suppose you have multiple stories. It's best to also have them in collections. Then, just post them as text, locked behind their appropriate tiers.

Also, if you have multiple tiers with different access, remember that you have to manually edit which tiers can access which chapters every day.

Example:

I have only two tiers: 1$ for one advanced chapter and 5$ for ten chapters. When I wake up every day, I have to edit the earliest chapter so the 1$ tier can access it. It doesn't happen automatically.

Not a problem to be a little behind. I don't use patreon, so I can't say for that site specifically, but I use subscribestar, as they claim less oversight in their ToS. But to your question, I upload as a pdf. I even do the (title) (copyright) (author) header so it looks even just a little more professional.

I'd also recommend considering character art. You can use character creator programs with studios to pose them. The ones I use are Honey Select 2 (3dcg art) and Koikatsu Sunshine (anime artstyle), and their related studios. Both of these are technically smut games, but I don't know anyone that actually uses them as that. Their main draw is the character creator.

Oof, didn't know that tiers had to be changed manually. If, or when I decide to finally post the story I'm working on, I'll have to keep that in mind. Thanks for the info, it's impossible to find information anywhere.
