Oh I recently joined this nanowrimo but boy the webpage looks quite messed up. But since it's a writing site, I'll also be posting mine. Can you tell me what happens if we write more than 50k words and can I write smutty fics there. If you don't answer before tomorrow then I'll ask chatgpt and you'll be humiliated deep inside because you'd lost to an ai. In yours eyes you'll become even worse then elon's digital poop.... You better reply fast??

unless they changed it, I don't believe smut is allowed. That's the primary reason I don't participate. Aside from that, I do it year-round. So setting a goal that's lower than my normal monthly average sounds... boring.

If you plan to publish it (they have a self-publish option), then you have to be pretty strict with what you submit. If you're just challenging yourself and don't worry about it, I THINK you can get away with at least borderline, if not true, smut.
I tried it three times, completed it once, myself.

Hah! I am not even sure if you can actually post your story on the Nanowrimo-page since I basically just use the tracker for words there and plan to post the story here and on tapas. :-P --- So far you can exeed your amount of words and I think you can get a badge for that, too maybe. --- Also: I will be writing a bit of smut myself so. Wheeee! :-D

So here I am, replying fast. Not loosing to an AI. :-P

Hehehe! You are not the first saying the thing about the word-count. :-D And here I am: Doing music, illustrations, writing, programming AND having a dayjob and for me 50.000 words is actually managable, but sounds pretty much. :-P

Oh, nice. Personally I am just challenging myself there. I will be using the script for my game, so I am only publishing my wordcount and nothing more anyway for now.... aaaaaand... I just saw your answer was ment for another person but I am not going to delete my words now. :-D :-P :-D

That's OK - I missed the other question. The one year I completed it I was just around 61K words and there did not seem to be any difference between that and 50K.

As far as I know, the only real benefits of NaNoWriMo are connecting with other writers, coupons to reduce the price of certain software (Plottr for example), and workshops/guides about getting published or writing tips. I believe there is a way to connect with writers in your area but it's been so long since I first joined that I have no idea how to do it. I don't ever recall anyone posting full stories on there as it's more of a tracker.

That being said, I do participate and I also use it to track word counts throughout the year. I'm just super forgetful to keep it updated sometimes.
I'm l8rose on there as well.

Oh, wow! That is pretty much actually (at least in my book 61.000 words in about a month are a lot. :-D)

Yeah! You are right here. And this is basically why I am joining the challenge. I have done that with illustration a fiew years, but these days I feel like I have a lot of Illustrators with me and writing is a goddamn lonely hobby, so I try to do anything against it. (I feel the NaNoWriMo might not really work though, but you never know until you try. :-P) ---- That being said: I took the freedom to send you a friend request. :-)
