I hate this:

I hate when the say they are one gender yet have no qualities of the gender they actually are.

Limbus company is guilty of this. As much as I love it, DAMN do some women just look like dudes or vice versa like in fate. I literally thought the one who grips was a dude until I read the wiki.

If it's a gag yeah, I'm cool with it, if it's for their character, yeah, I'm cool with i, but when it's not...what's the point?

What about you?
What kind of character type do you not like?

I hate characters who have absolutely no redeeming qualities and are just assholes who say and do fucked shit for the sake of being the asshole who says and does fucked shit.

And then I turn to the author and question their brain function capabilities.
It's usually 'mom didn't hug me enough' vibes.

Red meat for femcel gooners, obv (j/k, but not j/k).

As for characters I don't care for? I'm not a fan of any character who shouldn't have made it past the cutting room floor. Think anime filler arc characters, but somehow in the main plot. They aren't a good use of a stories word budget, imo. I'm probably even less of a fan of characters who are just needlessly stupid, like Snape or Draco in HP. They didn't actually do anything interesting in the story until the last two books. I'm sure they really appealed to the victim complex of their nerdy audience, but objectively they were painfully shallow for almost the entire series, until scrapping by at the end with a seventh of the development they needed to actually justify their page time.

I don't have a basement unfortunately.

And of course I would not be pissed, I'm fine with androgynous characters like Accelerator from Tooaru, Shiori Fuyumura from Sanda & Noel Stollen from Notorious Trash Talker.

I like em since I can actually believe it.

Accelerator I can believe it
Noel Stollen, I can believe it
Shiori, I can certainly believe it (Although I'm pretty sure she's just supposed to be lanky and not really androgynous)

I base my characters off of character models.
only I know who they are IRL.
I know what they look like, if its a physical character model.
how they act, what they say, those kinds of things might be the same model,
or I use a separate character model for everything other than physical form.

I'm pretty sure some people go...
"OMG, I just loved Itchi, in the Skratchi manga. But Imma make them more Ikki, then super OP them..."
which is to me, not "developing a character", but to each his own.

that said, I'm well aware some of these characters developed thus?
are indeed, hooving my ass up between my shoulder blades, based on rankings.

so I'm a hard head.
what else is new.

honestly just characters that have no substance. like- the ones with no good qualities to wow you or make u think ''damn so this is what makes them unique.'' or yeah js the ones that are assholes bc why not or are js dumb for no reason to the point that it's not even funny.

Most Korean and Chinese MCs. I hate the "Sigma Male Grindset", even more if the rest of their personality is "loves money" and Chinese MCs are psychopaths or delusional murder-hobos.
Heck, I even prefer spineless Japanese Harem MCs over those two types...

I guess I hate assholes unless they're villains. Having absolutely hateful "I kick puppies as morning exercise because kicking babies would be too much of a PR nightmare" type of villains is peak writing.

I actually dislike it when it's part of a gag. "haha dude looks like a lady" is a lot less funny the 17th time. If it's part of the character that gets explored, that's interesting. If they just look like that, that's also fine. People come in all sorts of shapes and sizes after all :blob_hmm:

Now I'll give you a twofer of character types I hate:
1. The generic protagonist
You know what I mean. The main guy who is as bland and inconspicuous as possible to allow for the readers to project themselves. I think it's terrible writing almost every single time. You might think "oh but everybody hates that stuff", but the truth is that shit sells like hotcakes (especially in anime). It is terrible. It is cowardice. It is weakness.

2. The love interest who likes the protagonist for no reason
Also related. If you have a generic milquetoast protagonist, you will also most likely have the love interest who likes them for no reason, or for a very flimsy reason. This isn't so much a specific character type, as they come in all sorts of flavors (such as the childhood friend character), but I hate them in every flavor. The most interesting part of a romance is seeing the feelings develop gradually and seeing how the dynamic changes, and this type of character spits in the face of that.
