During my time here, I barely read a few stories—maybe three or four at most. On second thought, it makes me feel terrible. Others have read my foolishness, but I haven't read any of theirs. All I ever cared about was publishing and writing some garbage fiction that lacked basic sense.

I'm thinking about leaving ScribbleHub for good. Nobody will miss me. Why should I keep doing this if I'm not making any money? The idea of stopping is alluring, but not enough to make me forget how exciting it is to write a story and publish something that is completely unworthy of any attention.

Please include a link to your work so that I can view it and provide an unbiased review. I'll read each chapter slowly if necessary, and then share it to others.

[Btw, how can I delete a thread? I've forgotten how.]

This part. Do it for this or because you enjoy writing. Doing it to make money is not how you start earning money with writing. At least that is how I see it.

And don’t feel terrible you haven’t read others stuff. Since picking up writing i Had little to no time to read others’ books. Any free time i have from work, i write. Only have time listening to audiobooks while going to and coming from work. It is not your fault or if it is a fault at all for not reading, just writing.

Not everybody is not going to miss, there will be that one gremlin crying over the fact that their favourite author stopped authoring. So keep writing for that gremlin :blob_evil:

This is a prevailing feeling that's felt by most authors. You want to put your head on the grindstone and sharpen your skillset incessantly. If you're committed enough, you'd begin to pigeon-hole yourself on a lonely path. The fact that you acknowledged this is indicative of self-awareness - a quality not many hobbyist writers have.

As for leaving, it all depends on what you're writing for. I do it cause' I like it. Having epic fantasies smoulder in my head feels like a waste, so I put it in a Word file and post it out for those who want to see what goes through my head when I lay awake on bed at 3 am. If you want to make money from writing, start cheesing the system. Write only the most popular genres of the site, do it consistently, upload regularly, and appeal to the lowest common denominator. That's how you have the chance to earn even a semblance of a cent. You want to make some REAL money, you keep doing it for maybe 2-3 years, and maybe you'll start seeing monthly two-digit figures on Patreon.

I write tomboy/furry smut with violent masochism and incessant dialogue. At one point the MC beats the shit out of a dog and she likes it. I have more """respectable""" works, but this is pretty much entry level for my style of writing.

Well, people have different motivations on doing things.

As for me, I write even though my works are not on the popular side. And I write with care, too, even though some readers don't happen to appreciate what i do.

Why do I keep doing this? Writing has become part of my identity. Nothing's wrong if you for money; after all, passion will never bring food to the table, or buy the things you need and want. What I just want to say is that, do what makes you happy.

As for my story, I'd rather not post it here. Tired of dealing with some readers, I just want to write and be happy of my little accomplishments.

Sometimes all you need to do is write solely for yourself, for the sake of relieving stress, dumping some annoying thoughts or emotions you might have, scramble the page and throw it out the window, or even make an airplane and say goodbye to it as you see it fly away.
