coincidentally, that was on my list. I've read the english translation and wanted to read it in the classic german. Don't get me wrong, the dude was sick, but I like to read books written by psycho/sociopaths because it's like a glimpse into their minds.

Why purge/kill innocents? Can't they simply kill bad guys !?
Heck if they simply killed bad guys, they would be praised as heroes. Even HERALDED into monuments and into history books. And their goal would be without end and/but satisfying to do.
And thanos snapping fingers 50%, if he snapped bad guys, i am pretty sure more 50% would be erased hence doing the job he wanted without receiving so much backlash from the avengers. And probably wake-up some idiot heroes that humanity isnt THAT good. ESPECIALLY politicians/capitalists.

where MC basically transmigrated and basically received the powers(system) of the "retribution/karma" of the world. The forgotten-trope where villains when they do evil, get karma, than get retribution/back luck/thunder-strike.
And MC see that the "retribution of the world" was not working of who-knows-how-long. So eons ago, evil cultivators discovered this fact and all began to "white-wash" their evilness. So now MC see that all "righteous sects" are in fact all evil sects but keep a facade of being good ones. Wearing white, looking handsome, smiles, etc. And even created a new "job" about white-wash/inventing fake righteous stories/change identity.
But in short. THE BAD GUYS, are smart that being evil got the detriment of being spurned on. WHY NOT be evil AND being praised? TON BETTER.
Its similar to the logic i once saw in a chinese novel : [A bad guy that 24/7 evil thoughts, but never do bad actions his whole life isnt a bad guy. But a good guy that do 1 crime is evil].

Its not often mentioned but she got murderer craving/impulse. Lore : in the past, she basically baited a rapist, so she should beat/cripple him.
In apocalypse, her craving is satisfied by killing zombies. And without apocalypse, even with her murderous impulse, she probably would never kill anyone in her entire life.
ps (3) : Hitler and Thanos are also very unlucky that they are ugly. Homelander is a shitty villain-hero. But he got a whole fanbase.
Meanwhile Hitler got a shitty mustache. Thanos is freaking purple and striped skin like a old man, and too thicc body. Totally different if they were a blonde and a sunny smile (hitler was bullied in childhood i think i saw somewhere because no being blonde like others). Heck just now i remembered the villain in "The watchmen" movie. The cool bad guy that did "I did it 35min ago" classic scene of a villain not pointlessly monologuing for no reason. HIM too is/was popular because of being handsome.
EVEN ntr doujins are selling well because of the art. And vanilla rarely do anymore "ahegao".
Lot of young people read manhwas more because of how beautiful it looks. I was surprised few months ago, to see a comment of someone being SUPRISED of how good looking and well done it is despite MANGA being simply black-white monochrome. His comment was like seeing antique stuff, like Charlie Chaplin monochrome movies. DESPITE mangas being mainstream was just 7+ years ago.
