Hello!!!!
Was there ever a tag/genre that you uses to love but now you just do not feel like reading any story that uses such a tag/falls under said genre?

For me, that would be fanfictions where the protagonist has an overpowered system and/or knows a lot about the world that they reincarnate/transmigrate into. When I first started reading written fan works, the ones that I read were mostly those that had the system tags or were categorized under the isekao genre. Once I started reading works where the protagonist of the story had no system or any other types of cheats granted by some divine being, I started looking for more works that did not have the system tag or categorized under the isekai genre. Nowadays, when I read fanfictions, I tend to ignore works written by fans that are categorized under this tag/genre for the most part.

It's hard to say anything decisively here, since there can always be that great story you'll read anyway even if it's from a genre you no longer like that much. If I had to say though, OP protagonist probably fits the best. I used to like those, but way too much of them devolve into just solving problems with ridiculous power or having problems because that ridiculous power can't solve an issue.

Edit: In case it wasn't obvious, what I want in a story with an OP protagonist is an exploration of that power, what it means to the person and what it means to the world to put it short.

Isekai and coming of age

Isekai is getting kind of old, but I do like using it for magic and system references. Some authors are creative with their systems.

Grimdark.

It's not as if I don't like reading them anymore or avoid reading them, but I'm definitely more careful; it turns out I can't chew through depressing stories as much as I used to.

Harem - I liked the idea and the variety of the cast but eventually, I noticed there's no way to do a harem without either having a spineless MC trying not to offend any of his girls or the girls force new members on him as a way of sharing the wealth (weird, I know.)

And just to keep the story fresh, every arc there's a new girl rather than any real exploration to the current ones.

Anything smut tbh since I realized although some smut are amazing, the truth is 90% of them is written by horny inexperienced authors so unless I'm reading it purely for the smut I usually don't bother with "plot with porn" novels. Besides, slice of life is king anyway and having sex regularly isn't the type of life I want to read.

I will never read any of those ‘dungeon towers invade earth’ stories. It seems like it was fabricated in a government black site lab to be the most boring, formulaic, uninspired drivel possible for someone to read. I’d rather read a legal textbook than that shit
