I swear there was a song that stole this tune.

My niece and nephew have been really into a traditional Irish song called The Rattlin' Bog, mostly because The Wiggles did a version of it. But, after hearing it over and over again for a while, I coincidentally wound up whistling the tune once and came to a startling realization.

I remembered there was a kind of upbeat song in the late 90s or early 2000s that actually contained a line where they whistled that exact tune, but I just can't remember what that song was and now it's driving me crazy. Is there anyone here who recognizes what I'm talking about and hopefully actually remembers the name of the song? I'll link the traditional version of The Rattlin Bog for reference sake.

Now, to re-iterate, I'm looking for a song that whistles this tune in the middle of a song that's otherwise about something different. I believe the instruments also play a slowed down version of the tune come to think of it, but the words are about something completely different and nowhere near as crazy fast-paced. But it is still rather peppy and up-beat though. It just sings at a much more normal pace.

(Try listening to the song once or twice and then whistle it to yourself. That's where it clicked for me that I'd heard the tune in something else, so that might be what it takes for you too.)

Wow, not even close. Nothing in that even sounds like Rattlin' bog at all. Giving you the benefit of the doubt here, did you maybe just remember wrong? (The version without the benefit of the doubt would be that you just threw a random name out there like an AI bot.)

PS: The only reason I'm ribbing a bit here with my response is because I've read your work and am aware this is actually the kind of humor you use in your writing a lot, don't mean any offense.

To clarify further, the song I'm looking for literally whistled the tune of Rattlin' bog during the song. It's not just that the tune sounds similar, there is actual whistling in the song, and the tune they are whistling is without a doubt Rattlin' bog.

Well, I just edited it into the last post. The song I'm looking for literally contained whistling, and the performers were whistling the tune of Rattlin' bog.

So, yeah, if it doesn't contain whistling, it's definitely not what I'm looking for. There was also clapping mixed in with the whistling.

EDIT: I would personally whistle and give the performance I'm remembering if this weren't a text only medium. But since it is text only, the absolute best I can do is provide the link to Rattlin' bog I did in the OP and just say "whistle it."

I do feel a little like it's not quite the same as what I remember though. It could just be my memory is off of course. I heard this when I was pretty young.

But, knowing the tune is based off of an old Irish folk song now, it's also entirely possible Centerfold wasn't the only song to run with this concept and I really am thinking of an entirely different song. So, weird bit of confusion there. For the sake of my own sanity though, I'm just going to assume that this was the correct song, I'm remembering wrong, but still leave this open for anyone who knows a different song that does the same thing to come in and say so.

I mean, the instruments and the opening riff sounds absolutely identical to what I remember. It's just that I seem to remember the whistling was a little more prominently featured. Like, I remember there being an entire bridge of it just whistling. Could have just been a matter of the version performed or something.

EDIT: The most ironic thing about that though is that tainted memories is literally exactly what that song's about.

Try a remix of the song.

Is this more accurate?
Has a more prominent whistle sound to it
