I have a question for people who know about psychology/psychiatry.

I took psych 101 so I know enough to say that I don’t anything, you should see a doctor even If it’s costly to do so.

1. How old are you?
2. Where do they happen? Is it only in one location?
3. What illegal drugs have you taken?
4. How much sleep do you get?
5. What are the subsonics in your home like?
ps1:Don't scare me with nonsense like ghosts, I am a man of science.
I've seen enough shit to never say never.

Science really has nothing on the existence of things they can’t test. As far as I’m concerned, I love science but ghosts could exist in another dimension of reality.

Also, since this year I am preparing for the university entrance exam and my sister's wedding is coming up, being admitted to a mental hospital can ruin a lot of things.
Ok, I just checked the symptoms of schizophrenia and it seems to be very similar to mine...
Should I be worried?
Schizophrenia is the least of your worries. The reason you should see a doctor is that there is a non-zero chance this could actually be an infection or a brain tumor.

I don't think they will send you to involuntary treatment unless they can get a judge to say that you are a danger to yourself or others.

I doubt you would be admitted to a mental hospital against your consent, that mainly happens when an emergency contact or close relative requests it when you're unable to, or when you're at risk of harming yourself or others.

Try not to worry, this sounds like some medication can clear out the noises and hallucinations for you. I'd request seeing a psychiatrist, they specialize in medication and would be able to help with any questions or symptoms you have. I respect your decision of getting advise from online but ultimately, you need to do what is best for yourself and not what anonymous users tell you is best.

If these noises and hallucinations have been getting worse, definitely go to a psychiatrist for that. The sooner you do that, the sooner you can get to clearing that away. You might be asked to consider therapy along with medication, this would be to check on how you are doing with the dosage of medicine given to you.

Despite how it sounds and looks, there's nothing wrong with you. Don't consider yourself to be less than others, we all have different obstacles to overcome and this happens to be one of yours. I'd recommend seeing a professional for a proper diagnosis, and then think about joining any online support groups to get helpful advice, perspective, and to see the progress others have made when they've been in your shoes. Support groups aren't for everyone and that's fine too, no pressure. But be sure to go see a professional for this in person, our help is limited online even if we were professionals too. Better to get to know you and tall to you in person than over text or zoom, at least I would say if I spoke for professionals here.

Do an ablution wudhu once and see if it reduce or remove the effect.
It helped with my white light vision when my head and eye pose no abnormality and the medication only made me depressed.
Goodluck.

Also this. Sudden voices and seeing things that are not there could be brain damage, not mental illness.
There are health conditions that can also induce hallucinations - diabetes, badly manufactured medications (depending on country), heavy metal poisoning (depending on country), brain conditions like a tumor or Parkinson's, cross interactions of medications and/or going under/over dosage of medications - even stress and depression can do it.

It's very individual and due to that - experts with educated understanding should be consulted, such as a psychiatrist or a doctor.

Hello!

I have been having auditory and visual hallucinations for about four or five months.

I see moving shadows when everything is at its brightest possible.

I hear the sounds of walking and running from the roof of the house, while the house is one story and there is no way to go to the roof. (The sounds belong to something heavy like a human, not a cat)

And worst of all, sometimes I hear a family member calling me and after I answer, I remember that I am alone at home.

Since my condition is getting worse, I was thinking of going to a psychologist or a psychiatrist, but I am a little worried that my condition will be diagnosed as very severe and I will be admitted to a mental hospital.

So, now that I have explained my situation, I wanted to ask if I will be admitted to a mental hospital with this condition? I don't think so myself, but since I'm not in a position where hospitalization is an acceptable option, I don't want to take the slightest chance.

ps1:Don't scare me with nonsense like ghosts, I am a man of science.

ps2:Sorry if there are many problems in the writing, my English is not good at all.
Sounds like early onset schizophrenia. Would recommend seeking immediate psychological assistance.

I'm just some idiot on the Internet who's mother has been a nurse for 20 years
but I do know that there are more possible causes than just psychiatric issues it could even be dietary or nutritional you could have an infection of some sort or even be suffering from environmental causes beyond just carbon dioxide poisoning I know that being around improperly shielded electrical wiring (which breaks down over time) can cause auditory and visual hallucinations

But no matter what the root cause may be
I'd say you need to go to a doctor immediately if it's particularly bad I would even go to an ER

If she's a 20 years-old nurse... how old are you?
No she BEEN a nurse for 20 years and I'm 29 (*whispering my mom turns 60 this year)

@satansoul also (and I know how creepy this sounds) do you live alone? or are there others in your home you could consult with? they could be having similar problems and just ignoring them or are too scared to mention it themselves

The real problem with these sorts of things is how paranoid and scared they can make you and that fear and paranoia could or could not be a part of the direct symptoms

Nobody is ever comfortable with admitting they're hearing and seeing things they know not real

Since I've broken radio-silence, let's contribute for real, shall we?

Go see a doctor. Hearing voices is just a symptom, and therefore, should not be used to give you a diagnosis. For a real one, a specialist requires much more information, PRIVATE INFORMATION, and therefore, no matter how well-intentioned we, Internet folk, might be, without a full disclose of your life, people who have the capacity of providing you with the kind of relief you require won't be able to provide it. And while there may be Internet ways for you to receive qualified help, SH is most probably not the way for seeking medical assistance. Remember that Medical Information is highly private.

You might be suffering from something not so serious to something life-threatening. By not serious I mean you could be suffering something temporary, due to the circumstances you might be going through. It is serious enough; hearing voices is never a pleasant experience if they disturb our daily life. But to what degree you require medical assistance would depend on a lot more than has been disclosed, and this chick has no desire to intrude in your personal life to possibly know more. It is already fairly convinced that your best option would be to seek specialized help since what you're going through is disturbing you enough on your life. That's when you should consider seeking help: when things become more than just a bother, when they become serious enough to disturb your daily routine. At least when it comes to mental health.

That's what I like to hear. Ghosts are just losers who can't move on from death.

As for your main question, I can't answer since I don't have the knowledge.

Yes, as stated, go to a doctor. Don't take info from people on the internet. Sure, we all have our experience and such, but an IRL doctor will take care of you and actually get you fixed.

That should always be your first step, not posting on a forum for Writers. Hope you get better.

5. I don't know
If it's only at home, then chances are it is environmental. You are getting enough sleep to avoid sleep deprivation, which is the number one cause of hallucinations. You are a little young to be developing schizophrenia, but it is a possibility. However, the fact it seems to be localized to your home leads me to believe that it's something else.

You live in a ranch-style home. I am curious if you live with someone else. Have they not noticed anything?

As a long shot, I would get someone to test the sound level of subsonics in your home. Often the cause of "ghosts" is when someone lives in a building that is subjected to very loud subsonics. You can't "hear" it, but your body can feel it. An example of subsonics would be when you are passing a factory and you can "feel" that it is active long before you hear it. Sounds below the human threshold of hearing can get insanely loud without us noticing and the effects on the human mind is often what you are describing.

Is that the cause? I don't know. There needs to be a source of the sound. Usually, it is electrical equipment, generators, factory equipment, living next to a yard where a lot of trucks idle. I live behind a grocery store and a yard for the local garbage company to park their dump trucks. The subsonics on one side of the house get insane at around 5 am, but only for an hour or so. Most of the time it takes prolonged exposure to cause hallucinations.

Other considerations are what you are eating or drinking or if you are taking any medication that is prescribed that you might be allergic to. I know codeine makes me paranoid to the point I once barricaded myself in my house until it wore off.

Also, not knowing what country you are in, parasites are a possibility. Check-in with a doctor, but the localization leads me to think it's enviromental. Also, could be a brain tumor. You should get an MRI. When my sister got cancer it went all over. The brain tumor caused her to see all sorts of shit.

Oh, that sounds like a bad experience
You make it sound like it was just one bad experience.

Do you remember hearing about that cult that all killed themselves so they could go into space to be with the aliens who lived behind the Hale-Bopp comet? I used to work with a guy who was a member. We called him Harold the Herald of Death, because he somehow just happened to be connected with all sorts of people who just died for no reason, or would visit places that would get destroyed by natural disasters. I mean, he's deliver a load to a work site, and 12 hours later it would be wiped out by a tornado. Shit you can't make happen on purpose, level of crazy.

Harold had no idea they were all going to kill themselves. He was away on vacation when it happened so he couldn't make the final meeting.

The man owned an entire MOUNTAIN. I have no idea why he worked in shipping. Harold was one nutty cookie.

Its not as scary to see go a psy/doc/hospital
In fact, they just fucking dont care of you, but just consider you one among 5398532580 patients. Likely in the future when you remember them, you wish you could slap/punch them for their "uncare" vibes.
Which is common for health industry, with biggest proof being : the fact all old doctors/pharmacists have a shitty writing
Expect very half-warm half-formaleic talking, depending on luck.

1) They will just prescrible you with 1 medication
2) Possibly or not. You will just stay 1week in hospital temporary. But probably not mendatory. But likely will happen if you simply go to the "general doctor" in your street, as THEY basically can't directly prescrible you with medication related to "brain/psychology"
3) Warning this "hallucination", even with medication, probably will not disappear with medication
4) Just like titanus, you will "bear it" and live normally ignoring it, but often accumulate anger slowly so recommended to find a venting thing
5) Warning about side effects of the medication. Despite ignoring them like most humans, with usual common medication like stomach ache/headache, this ones.....have higher chance to happen. Not to say the long liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiist of them will happen, but......let's say for example 1-2 will, very likely
EDIT : Sorry i re-read your post and you said its VERY severe, so the words said, maybe wont fit you. As they are for "mild symptoms". Also check QUORA or other people with same symptoms like you on internet.

6) If you get a certain medication that i fear you will, i..............kinda recommend to stop using it and just bear with the "hallucinations"
As this side effect, was complained about online by others, to......... create heart problems/fragilize the heart/cause small heart disease later. Which happened to me.

PS : if you go to hospital, dont forget to bring a fluffy pillow (bed) for the head, entertainment (phone/laptop/book)
PS 2 : hospital, if you get a mf nurse/doc telling you "please wait the doctor" or something, in public waiting room, dont forget to often check watch AND to not hesitate to call this mfers if it gets too long, or you risk being "forgotten" for HOURS, and wont say any "sorry"
PS 3 : Common thing after medication, is people saying "you seem less energetic/are sluggish" which is normal, and in fact feel like you didnt change at all like they said. This one is hard to proof which as too subtle.
PS 4 : Most annoying thing, is going to psychologist regularly, not even to tell your life/problems/if ok, but just so this random person, sign the paper to give you the medication for pharmacy. Loss of a few minutes, Loss of long drive time to destination and back, paying the person a quite annoying sum for just 1 signature for a medication with side effects likely begnin until it accumulates.
