What cause of death? Sued into oblivion, drowned in red ink, or just abandoned to sounds of crickets?

It is both good and bad. Good because it I gone and so are all of the conspiracy bots. Bad because we will soon be seeing site refugees appearing looking for a new chat room.

Should we prepare a welcome thread for 4chan refugees?

4kun was oddly diverse. A weird number of career mathematicians were active there. Several advancements in number theory published in academic journals are credited to "anonomous 4chan user".

If that’s true, it’s a great tragedy.
But I think there’ll just be another site, sooner or later.
An alternative to forums and social media won’t die as long as there are people who can’t stand them.
