I Am So Happy~!

I’ve been trying and trying to create the prequel of a certain work of mine for a while. It’s been a few years of constantly creating and deleting ideas because nothing felt ‘right’. Every draft I made didn’t seem to fit what I wanted.

Today, I am so happy that things just so happened to meld together perfectly. Thanks to the interactions and supportive feedback I got in these forums, I finally found the right balance of the familiar and wild cards causing chaos in the originally standard plot. I find it so perfect.

This post is just a thank you to you guys.

I never would have found the balance I wanted without those little interactions. Looking up from my expansive glossary to see reality, and that there were no need force or copy what worked thoughtlessly. All I needed to do was relax.

Everything else fell into place soon after.

So what's the plot?
I bet it has green lanterns in it. Except the color isn't green, it's blacklight, and the ring is powered by Cringe instead of willpower.
You could make the oath to recharge the ring go something like this:

My bedroom looks like a Jackson Pollock painting.
I got way too much lint on my clothes.
I can't think of a rhyme.
Recharge my damn ring, you stupid lantern.

Flinn Driftwood is a ‘normal’ guy who only wants to be accepted by his clan. Despite being treated badly for being weak, he returns after more than five years sharpening himself. Discarding his former identity to take back his old one.

It’s a story about self-acceptance and has some twists. Like him gaining the interest of a regressor, world traveller, time traveller, and novel Isekai’d character. He called the police after they said nonsense like “Join my hero’s party” and “This world is a novel”. All to focus on his goal.

He only has one special method to his abilities that made him look like an ogre in the past despite having elf features. Early on, he proceeds with a method to look young again so he can enter the academy his siblings are at.

It’s a story about the struggle to be independent.
