Market price for a professional TL is 8 - 12ct per word, depending on how evil you are you can add up to 50% of the TL price for editing. Localization should be already included, imo, but depending on how clueless the other party is you might add another few ct.

How do you guys get hired before telling the customer how much it will be? :blob_hmm:

Shouldn't you have decided the price first? I can see the other party refusing to pay as it wasn't agreed to beforehand.

Then they will expect it to be free as a 'favor'.

I am not looking for a financial benefit anyway but a reasonable price is always good to know for subsequent business transactions.

I would not pay for either, until I start making money with my writing first.

I would be willing to exchange editing services with other writers, or maybe set up a percentage of profits deal for if/when the project becomes profitable but until then, I would pay nothing.

I have done some proofreading, but not full-tilt editing, for mention in credits and comp copies in the past, and would probably do so again if the chance came up.

Translation I would need to research for what to pay (and am not comfortable enough in any language but English to charge for)
