Also NO. Regardless the situation, the person or whatever the case, rape is rape. If it's done by some random villains/thugs in the story, i can tolerate it because I know the author probably use it to show how bad the bad guy is. If it's done by the mc, no. I will probably stop reading right away and never look back.

You know, this is the reason why this topic is rather taboo to ask in such a ridiculous question.

There is no such thing as a justified rape.

I can assure you that, not by personal experience, but rather by the tiny speck of morality of my own. I had plans to write about a villainous MC commiting rape just to power up himself like some shitty xianxia novels and I cannot put anymore words into that doc. The doc is sealed away, some of its plot line torn off for other written projects but never in my life am I ever touching that doc again.

It is funny, because I had planned another blackmail/ non-consensual stroke work with the skeleton of that doc and I still can't put my finger onto the keyboard. It is one thing to have rape fantasy, but do it tactfully is impossible. There is no such thing as a justified rape, xianxia and their "save a life through rape" is BS at best as it tries to justify a crime with life saved. This is then followed by the woman having being stockholmed and bounded by conservative traditions to follow MC, it sickens me.

What is rape? It is a non-consensual sexual assault done to an unwilling party.

Using rape as an element to make your story more interesting is ok. Trying to justify it is NOT, especially if it's done by the protagonist. It only serves to paint the MC as an absolute piece of shit, even if it's done as an act of revenge.

It is distasteful, to say the least when stories depict rape as some sort of minor inconvenience for the victim. Many people seem to believe that just because women can theoretically hook up with anyone that they can somehow tolerate being forcefully ravaged by some stranger. Rape or even attempted rape has the same effect on the brain as attempted murder, it is a life-changing event and the victim ends up traumatized for the rest of their lives.

I can't speak from experience unlike some other people in the forum, but I'm currently writing a protagonist who was almost raped, and I did a lot of research in the matter to try to portray the trauma at least somewhat accurately. Rape is too powerful of a literary resource to use cheaply.

Reverse Rape = Woman is raping the man.

This is not an attempt to justify rape being less Evil, this is a way of letting readers of hentai easily know which of the characters is the rapist one, so as to let them appropriately filter down their search when trying to look for stories that fit their fetishes.

Essentially, Reverse Rape is just a hentai tag, made for hentai viewers for the sake of letting them find what they want.


It's not that different to how Reverse Harem is a tag that makes you aware of who is the person that owns the harem... If I see Harem + Female Protagonist, I dunno if the Female Protagonist owns the harem, or if she's part of a harem... But if it has the Reverse Harem tag, then I know that she is the one that owns the harem... And since Reverse Harem exists, I can deduct that any story with Harem + Female Protagonist will just have the MC as part of the harem.

Those kinds of tags are exist just because they serve a purpose. The naming is not ideal, but it's not really an attempt to justify rape, it's just a hentai tag made for people that want to find their fetishes more easily.
