How can I put my story in people's search results?

Its all in your tags and content warning.

Then you need a cover page that will catch their attention.

Finally, consistent new chapters
Thanks for your help!

For what you say I assume that the content warnings go against my interests.
I selected all three to have freedom of creativity but I don't really plan on being too explicit with the sexual part.
What constitutes sexual content exactly?

Content warnings cover three types of sensitive content: sexual content, strong language, and gore.

My own novel contains a gore warning due to the numerous bloody execution scenes. I also explicitly included a warning in the synopsis for sensitive readers as follows:

? Trigger Warning:
Contains graphic violence, emotional trauma, child abuse (implied), execution scenes, and dark psychological themes. May include offscreen references to sexual violence. It contains no fanservice, light romance, or harem. Not suitable for sensitive readers.

The problem is that it doesn't even appear when you look for it in Scribble, the only way to get to the novel is with the direct link.
I'll use the opportunity to drop it here
He Gazed Into The Abyss
If it's not showing up in searches, either it's been blocked somehow (due to content, or suspected translation, possibly) or it hit a tech glitch and needs to be addressed in the Bug forum. Seriously.

If you are not having sex related stuff, disemboweled people, or swearing, you have no need of the content warnings.
Many people will either filter their searches to hide those results so you maybe shooting yourself in the foot by adding them.

You've just released your novel. Please wait a few more hours... SH has a queue system for releasing new novels. Once your novel has been released, it will be added to the latest novels section on the homepage.

sexual part.

Sorry missed this the first time.

Non sexual content fade to black sex scene.

And the couple kissed, becoming closer than they had before. Looking into each other's eyes, they both knew this night would be one they would never forget.

Sexual scene.

Ummm look at either of my fanfics for the chapters with hearts...I dont think our mods would like me typing a r18 scene out in the forum....though I would become an instant legend.

Thanks for the example. What I have in mind would most likely fit into gore.

As for Google, it’s not instant either. Your story won’t be picked up by normal search engines until it starts appearing elsewhere on SH.

You need a decent cover you don't need to hire an artist to make one but at the very least a good gpt or find something on google images. If you go the AI go for a description of your main character or one of your female characters.

Just checked your story page the one you've got there is good switch it up occasionally and you should be fine.

Another thing probably the most important is consistent and regular updates. Post at least once a week once you get established but at the beginning like the first 50-100 chapters once a day or once every two days. If you try doing the once a week thing at the beginning you will not be found by the average person who looks thru the latest updated. Not everyone does genre searches and at the beginning unless you get highly ranked in one of the tags people most likely wont find you unless the tag you're ranked in is small. I.e. Ninjas has over 250 stories under it and some of my favorites are in the top fifty and I check below that maybe once a year if I'm bored and looking for something to read.

Just fyi this is your first novel if you haven't written before it might take a little while to get to quality. Even the writers I love reading here haven't always nailed the beginning of their novels.

Last bit of advice. Write for you. Write this story because you want to because you want to bring it to the world. If people like it/love it or don't/hate it take it in stride and write the story you want. Take feedback but don't let it change you. Do not burn yourself out trying to write to meet your readers expectations. A couple authors I love stopped writing entirely because they got burned out and couldn't write anymore. Do this for you first and foremost.

Wish you luck and the best.
