Quiet you. Let us enjoy our historically and internationally average level of nationalism for one day before the majority of Americans go back to feeling bitter about the *current state* of America. This thread is about memes for some and respect for the *idea* of America for others.Land of toxic nationalism.
Now I can officially say I learn more about Phillipines independence lore more than any other country (except my own, Vietnam)Trivia: The Philippines, being a former colony of the United States, technically achieved its independence in July 4, 1946, when the Third Philippine Republic under Manuel A. Roxas was officially proclaimed into existence. U.S. flag was brought down in the official ceremonies, and only the Philippine flag was raised in the nation's prime square at Luneta.
It was also Roxas who set the precedent of Philippine leaders mooching off to U.S., forever grateful for its help in freeing the country from the Japanese in the aftermath of World War 2, and restoring the Commonwealth (which preceded the Third Republic).
However, during the presidency of Diosdado Macapagal, a Philippine senator, Ferdinand Marcos, sought to extort the U.S. Army of his 'alleged' role in the resistance movement in the Philippines during the Japanese era. He tried to convince U.S. Army of his exploits in war, which proved bogus, and resulted in his attempts to be ignored.
In revenge, Marcos convinced his friend, Macapagal, to support the transfer of Philippine Independence from July 4 like its former colonial master to June 12, which was the proclamation of independence of the First Philippine Republic (the nemesis of U.S. Army during the Filipino-American War of 1899-1901).
Thats all of them darlingLand of toxic nationalism.

I mean, I’m just saying, other British colonies achieved semi-independence without the rampant sociopolitical dysfunction. *Looks pointedly out the window at her homeland*Bruh.
95% of that was an over the top joke. It's the same as getting offended over a video like this one.I mean, I’m just saying, other British colonies achieved semi-independence without the rampant sociopolitical dysfunction. *Looks pointedly out the window at her homeland*
