As a non native english speaker, I struggle a lot with word choices

I'd call this okay but very stupid and inefficient. Just use Grammarly first, it will save you hours. That way you knock out the spelling errors. If you use Grammarly the word sheepishly shouldn't have appeared in the FPT edit.

You can still ask GPT to analyze your choice of words and give suggestions for improvements.

Anyway, you're doing fine this is exactly how a responsible author uses AI, which allows him to improve at the same time.
