What does MHA quirks run on? For example, emo guy's decay, TRUE MC's bomb sweat and that bitch's gravity touch, it looks as though the user can spam it senseless but for some reason didn't.

Also, what does Worm's emitter run on? They can spam shit but the details aren't exactly clear.

They aren't Steve from Minecraft on Creative, so I would assume a standard energy bar, possibly separated from Stamina, because unlike Fromsoft, it is not as though they can't dodgeroll once they run out of spam juive.

Gravity girl explicitly gets backlash if she overuses her power, which causes her to vomit and generally stop moving and doing athletic stuff, though that seems to have become an effectively moot point as she’s trained herself. It’s presumably still an issue that she is managing, but her limits have gotten bigger and she is aware of them so she doesn’t go into the danger zone like an idiot.

Explosion boy’s bomb sweat is literally his sweat. He can use his powers more when he’s working out or stressed, which just so happen to be the situations when you’d need to use a dangerous superpower most. His suit is also built with reservoirs where his bomb sweat can gather so he has a reserve.

MHA is actually pretty consistent about having limits on everyone’s powers, assuming we actually see them using their powers with any frequency from their perspective. Decay lad presumably has limits, but he’s a villain and a bit older so we don’t get to see them so he can be more intimidating. It has literally never come up but belly button beam man has stated a few times that he gets bad stomachaches if he uses his power, and grape perv starts bleeding profusely from the scalp if he rips off too many balls

In Worm? Your limits are whatever a chunk of a magical crystalline hyperdimensional space whale SAYS they are, based on what their own parameters are and how much they like you. Maybe you get muscle spasms on overuse, or maybe it’s literally always on and you can’t turn it off even if you wanted to. Maybe you have theoretical limits but they are so high that some other problem would arise long before then, like going into a zen state while flying so intense that you yeet yourself into space forever.

Basically? They all have individual limits based on what is required by the plot and/or what the author thought would be cool worldbuilding. That said, I doubt that even Brandon Sanderson literally has a video game style meter where he maths out EXACTLY how long the flying depressed man can yeet himself through the skies before he stops glowing and has a depressive episode. It’s enough to know there IS a hard limit and point at it routinely in order to ratchet up tension.

When MHA runs low, the characters lose plot armor and limbs can be torn off. This was demonstrated during Enji's fight with evil smiling wrinkled and eyeless One Punch Man when Enji lacked a spare energy bar. There are quite a few characters whose entire power is based off of consuming massive amounts of MHA from energy bars.
