The interplay between attire and productivity has been a subject of interest across various professional domains. Notably, the concept of "programming socks" has emerged as a cultural touchstone among programmers, such that thigh-highs, skirts, or cat ears—anything French maid-esque—can enhance cognitive performance, allowing individuals to produce 'clean' code while enabling higher productivity. Inspired by the wonderful research paper "Programming Socks: Is it high time for thigh-highs? An investigation into the perceived unreasonable effectiveness of Programming Socks on productivity levels in the field of Software Engineering," this post aims to expand on this inquiry by exploring the potential psychological and physiological effects of similar attire on writing productivity.

Specifically, we seek to investigate whether wearing such attire can be a determining factor in what we call 'good writing,' fostering creative output, and bolstering a writer's ability to focus and be productive in their work.

Your insightful opinions are welcome.

I'll have to perform an experiment immediately wherein I spend an entire day writing without wearing the "writing socks" and then do a day where I wear "writing socks" for the entire day. By comparing the words written I can determine the effectiveness of the "writing socks."
Thank you for your contributions. I'm sure this will be a revolutionary research.

Back when I was writing reliably, I had these absurdly long socks, but they all were destroyed. I had to get shorter socks as a result.

Since then, my productivity has gone down...

Sorry but in my experience, especially during summer, the only attire that allows me to obtain a certain degree of productivity is wearing exclusively underwear and a pair of slippers. Any other shape or form of fabric on my skin hinders my capacity of functioning properly.

(I’m trying to transform everyone into cavemen, if it wasn’t clear)

Alright. I'll go get some leggings to wear for my regular job. Maybe a skirt too. I am a guy, but maybe a little extra flexibility will encourage some diverse ideas in the workplace.

This warlord can't say regarding programming as my job no longer involves coding.
However, specific 'attire' do affect productivity.
For instance, this warlord always wearing rings on all of my right hand's fingers when this warlord went out or went to work. Doing so switched my brain to a different mode, granting this warlord a boost of confidence and productivity. It is also concerning that whenever this warlord do my work home without wearing the rings, the productivity kinda fell off.
