If you've been sharing stories on the internet for more than a day, you've definitely gotten at least one comment from a reader that makes you think "Who chews this guy's food for him?". Like this one I got on XNPC, where someone was so desperate for an excuse to glaze communism that they invented a scenario that never happened in the book to justify bringing it up.

I, personally, am still hung up on a particularly stupid review, which I have already complained here about, because it's older. But there's, like, two more that I thought were extremely dumb.
As you can see, it's such a weird wording, it feels too specific - at the same time, it's absurdly unspecific. The only thing he kind of specified was, suspiciously, the only thing he ever commented under the actual story, which was at Chapter 25. That, in itself, was just a non-combatant character being shocked. And he phrases it, as if it was about "all combat" scenes, which aren't that action-y in my novel, that's true, but, uhm, it was the first combat scene here. He had literally nothing to compare it to. Everything else is a complete nothing-burger and that totally irks me.
I also hate saying that, but even feels a bit artificial. He literally contradicts himself. Is there, or is there not any explanation on how the world works? You can't say there are no introductions into the world, but then explanations on magic are "unwelcome" - ya can't have your cake and eat it too. And what do you mean, there are questions with no relevance to the story that should be answered but aren't?
If he really had something specific to say, why say it in such a way where it takes more effort to play pronoun game than to simply quote a question you mean say "things like that"?
I mean, it's long ago, but hell am I still pissed. They could all be valid claims, but I can only point at a single one and that one isn't valid, because it's people out of their depth acting like people out of their depth.
Then there was this one, which is... I don't even know what to say. THIS is her first association?

All my readers comments were actually reasonable. The only really stupid ass comment came from someone on RR who didn't even read a single chapter. I wasn't in a happy mood that day.
Looking through my old books on a different platform it seems once I purged most of the BS, that the person didn't attempt to flood the story while I ignored the site for 6 years.
Don't know how much context I gave before regarding the feedback that basically stopped me posting my writing for years, but basically I had pissed someone off with a bad review on someone elses story, and because I dared to argue the person went out of their way to make a stack of burner accounts using the name of the character in the story among other things.
I ended up basically hating the character because they signed up with accounts named after some of the characters I had written and started saying and implying weird stuff in some kind of fetish roleplay in my comments
They then decided to run around as the named character, harrassing everyone they were able to, to draw attention to the whole thing.
All of these are JUST the things that I'm able to find by the person who was a larger author at the time, who decided to help me out in reporting the issue and getting my work a bit more attention.
This is why I quit reading and writing online for years, even now I feel the rush of anxiety for the whole thing.
