In one of my stories, (Ther sci-fi fi I haven't put up yet) one of the characters actually bemoans the fact that 'universal standard' language tended to take away most of the good swearing from Russian, English, German, and french.

Now, 'scrot' replaces pretty much every curse word. "Scrot the scrottin' scrotters. They can go scrot themselves in their scrottin' scrotters for all of scrot."

Legitimate complaint for someone who's been alive for a couple of thousand years.

A smurfing good idea.

I don't swear when writing. Having been in the occasional situation where I've needed my characters to express a strong feeling, I can definitely agree that most alternatives sound cheesy or strange. I just try and work my way around it.

I feel like it should be possible to work your way around it in a professional manner, but I haven't figured out how yet.

whoever gets angered about them is a crybaby pussy bitch that was raised in a christian household or something and should touch grass
I'd like to live in a civilised world, preferably one that's devoid of eyesores. Is that so strange?
