Disabled profiles should not be able to write on other profiles.

ScribbleHub currently allows users to disable their profiles, which makes them completely inaccessible to others -- no viewing their content, no messaging, nothing. That’s fine for privacy.

But here’s the problem: they can still interact with everyone else.
They can:
  • Post on other users’ profile walls.
  • Like or interact with content.
  • Potentially leave reviews or comments.
This creates a one-sided interaction: we can't reply to them (unless they leave a message first), check their history, or context -- yet they can still pop into our space and leave a message.
Sure, we can block them -- but the only way to do that is through Settings --> Blocked Users, where you have to manually enter their nickname. While the nickname is visible and can be copied, this is still a clunky workaround for something that shouldn't be happening in the first place.

Proposed Solution

Disabled profiles should be restricted from all user interaction.
That includes:
  • Posting on other users’ profiles.
  • Leaving reviews, comments, or replies.
  • Interacting socially in any way.
They can still:
  • Read stories.
  • Use their reading list.
  • Consume content passively.

Basically: If you opt out of social visibility, you shouldn’t retain the ability to socially engage. Disabled should mean disabled -- both ways.

Edit (thanks @Kaze_NG for the idea);
If a user deactivates their profile, they should not be able to re-activate it for 7 days. Same for deactivating after reactivation.
Additionally, all interactions made by the account while it was active should become hidden the moment the account gets deactivated.
Hidden, not deleted. Those can become visible again after reactivation (unless it is too big of a pain in the ass to implement, then deletion is okay I guess).

This isn't going to work.

You would have to retroactively delete (not hide, permanently delete) all comments, reviews and ratings made by such accounts the moment it goes private, and that applies to all comments, reviews and ratings since the start of time (i.e. since creation of the account). This must be irreversible. If you don't go to this extreme, it would be pointless. You could hide the review, but the anonymous 1* would remain, which defeats the purpose of combating downvoters.

However, if you do auto-delete everything, serial downvoters would stop sticking to the single account to cause damage.

They would start to create a new account for every review.

This happens on the Royal Road. Since there is a "meta" to preemptively block problematic users, the downvoters are now creating a new account for every review. (and their moderation looks away)

One must think so.

Only reason someone would want to deal with the anonymous profile is to stop the chronic downvoter accounts. Otherwise, there wouldn't be any reason to take any action whatsoever. Hence why I suggest retroactive deletion of content.

I would assume Scribblehub can have a feature that nullified and hides all content by a profile if they disable and just reinstates it when they dont. Maybe?

Hiding is not the same as removing...

The Royal Road implemented the options that hide the reactions from writers...

...but allows everyone else to react.

It's only a matter of time until the writer re-enables the "don't show reviews" to find out why is nobody reacting to him (or her) and finds out he (or she) was bombarded by the 0.5* entire time. Entire feature defeats its purpose, as you are reliant on having (unreasonably) high rank which is derived from rating.
