Ah - maybe that was the way they stated it in the laughable adaptation of Earthsea the Sci Fi channel did before it became SyFy. The one where the only real reason to watch was Kristen Kreuk. They even got the lead wrong, since he was about as Caucasian as you could get, which caused LeGuinn to resume her ban on allowing her works to be adapted without her maintaining full creative control...Well, there's True Names per the Earthsea series, which builds on older mythological concepts of true names and the true language of the world (i.e. in the Old Testament, the story of the tower of Babel).
