The first chapter sets the tone for the entire story. It introduces the protagonist and/or other major characters. What I want to know is. As a reader, how do you feel if the action kingdom building story you are reading started with depression and tragedy?

Will you feel bored? Will it not be your cup of tea?

It depends on how you narrate the tragedy within your conflict, doesn't it? Remember, the opening chapter should present the story's moral premise, which will become the gateway to the main conflict of an arc or even a series. If you can't make readers care about your story, then it's not a good opening chapter.

Edit: If you want to gauge whether readers liked the opening chapter of the tragedy or not, you should hold a vote!
