I think that one has been done to death by now actually (at least in webnovel spaces.)

Also, for the OP, that one is easily accomplished with some form of legacy. The Demon king dies but still ruins the day is also something pretty easy to figure out how it's gonna happen. Demon king saves the day is a basic redemption arc. However, Demon king dies but hero ruins the day (afterward) is something that has some SERIOUS possibilities because it implies something has gone seriously wrong.

If no, the trope has been done till dead.

If yes, then it is just a forced perspective change and someone else be the new MC.

Also, quite bold of you to say that the world needs saving from a hero or get destroyed because of the demon king, the world is very capable of existing on its own, then came the virus cum cancer that is humanity that brought their petty squabble and attempts to ruin the world.
