Could this man be forgiven?

You dont gotta rape a person to show how big and bad you are. If you think you do, then you arent.
On a serious note, when we did some 'charity work' with people in prison (Philippines), there were cases where the inmates got raped by their fellows...

However, it isn't for showing that you're 'big and bad' (all the reasons we got); it's a simple release of horniness. The 'Mayor' (the highly-respected/feared 'leader' of the prison, not the actual prison guards themselves) had these 'rapists' beaten up, for keeping the peace and order inside the cells.

oh yeah rapists often get that treatment. I worked at my local prison for a little while with a buddy i graduated HS with. No one really liked a rapist but there were times where it was ignored.

Most sex that happens in a prison ISNT rape from what i saw. The dynamics are just different in a prison. You either let someone fuck you for their protection cuz you were weak or you fuck to relieve the Horny. Sometimes you got to give dick, sometimes you had to take it. It wasn't often that you were outright held down and got raped against your will.

It could cause problems if that happened, too. Least in the one i was at.

For example the mexicans had their own groups, and so did the blacks and the whites. So if one color raped someone of another color, there would be retaliation. Well, assuming the inmate getting raped actually was part of his colored group. Some inmates DIDNT stick with their color and so no one bothered to protect them.

One white guy was like that. Dude didnt follow his bunkie's advice when he first got there and ended up isolated. Week later you could hear him getting raped pretty violently. Got shanked too later on. That one was over shoes, i think. Surprised he was able to hold onto them for that long tbh.

BTW I'd like to point out some funny consistency in Quetin's character: His loose lips and possibly his need for comfort from people. He sought comfort from Charlotte and made a "mistake". He confessed his kiss to Charlotte's gf to ease his guilt, while possibly betraying Charlotte. Then after changing workplace and only a few drinks, he opens himself to OP hoping for comfort and spit everything.

>spills the beans to the girl he cucked
>socially dies on the spot
>spills the beans to a random coworker
>immediately gains a reputation on an internet forum, a fate worse than social death

Also, some possible mixed falsehood or missing pieces: Maybe Quetin did indeed snatch a kiss with Charlotte? It could have been forceful from Charlotte's POV, but not Quetin's POV. Because of this, his cold treatment is consistent.
Secondly, if the kiss was indeed consensual, then Quetin's confession without Charlotte's prior arrangement could be seen as a betrayal. Maybe Charlotte reframed the context to protect herself by telling her circle that she didn't want to kiss him actually. Then the workplace cold treatment is consistent too.

Remember guys, the adult ones must try to protect the underaged from their own bad decision making. If a teenager asks you to shoot a school or have sex with you, just don't give them what they want!

Also, if Quetin didn't get whiny and vulnerable about ex dumping him, he wouldn't have any problem lol. If he was a complete chad, none of that would have happened, but he's just a young dude with some missing pieces I guess.

BTW, people saying that Quetin is chuuni over the top with his redemption thing. That's right but it was in the context of a drink with a friend. Making your story chuuni is a fun way to make it engaging. He prolly wasn't expecting that OP would then spread his story on internet lmao.

In addition, young people are in the process of finding their identity and place in the world. They are sensible to shame, embarrassment, guilt, sin. They might wonder why am I like this? Wtf is wrong with me? They want to change for the better, and frantically looking for the solution like self-help improvement addicts. And it's fine.

Wagner's version of Tannhauser is litteraly a dude leaving his gf behind for a journey of redemption for spending all day in a damp cave, lewding a "goddess" that may or may not have been a product of his imagination. All for the pope to tell him to fuck himself, while god sends his message separately saying "I'm chill mate, I don't give a shit", and while the gf fucking dies for no reason.

Young people have always wondered why they were degenerates from times immemorial. They shouldn't fucking ruin their youth for something like a vague idea of redemption bothering their mind.

In this modern era where we don't have to worry about your neighbor secretly being Jack the Ripper or hiding skeletons in their closet, the concept of sin is no longer needed. Instead of God constantly watching over us, we have fucking security camera, forensics, and IRS to hunt you down. What matters now is trustworthiness. Is this acceptable for my husband/wife/children to interact in the same society with this ex-criminal? What conditions for their release should be attached? Are they trustworthy enough to have learned their lesson to never redo it again?

I believe that the concept of sin even leads to a colder society. By convincing ourselves that we are self-made and accountable for one's own success, we treat other people harsher and colder. There are so many things we don't choose at birth: emotions, personality, name, upbringing, social class, and we could be a dice roll away of being a problem instead of a functional member of society. However, it does stroke my ego when I get to say to a beggar hobo "skill issue".

I got a client before who was accused of child abuse, simply because the child 'cried wolf'. And know what? Everyone believed the kid, though we did manage to prove it was a false accusation.

Sad part is, every person that guy knew already judged him as if he actually did the act. Including his closest friends and family. Nearly killed himself in the end...(I don't know what happened to him afterwards)

So, uh, though it may sound like a plot of an afternoon soap opera...well, as some say, "The truth is weirder than fiction". If you work with victims of 'sexual crimes', it will break you.
I'm with Hans on this one. Even if the story is fake I've seen similar ones as well. My old roommate got married when he was in the military and had a daughter but one thing led to another and the marriage didn't last. However he still had visitation rights for his daughter. Then one day his EX said that his daughter told the school counselor about how he did inappropriate things to her when he had custody. One thing led to another and he was talking to the police saying that this never happened. The legal system was all over him though and talked about how many years he could get for child molestation forcing him into a plea deal. Before he went to prison he said he heard some of the DAs talking about how good it was that they got a plea deal because this didn't look like a case they would win.

Roommate got thrown in the slammer, and lost visitation rights to his daughter.

16 is within the age of consent in many civilized countries, it was only four years difference in age and nothing more than a kiss - that she had no issue with it seems.
From this limited information, it might be questionable, but it's no end of the world, certainly nothing requiring forgiveness.
I agree with that. Some kids had their first kiss wayyyyy earlier. While it is a bit weird, it's really been only 4 years difference. Both are in the same gen so them getting along doesn't feel unbelievable to me.

Also lets be honest;

some 16 year old look old af because of smoking and alcohol, make up and severe lack of sleep (although it only got worse in the past few years). Meanwhile some 20+ look like a baby.

He should feel guilty if the attraction goes to younger people.
