Being a picky gamer, is it related to country?

Kind of the opposite, huh? Interesting!
It sure is. Even the experience of playing games outside of the big flagship IPs was the same, but while the kids where you're from got that experience from pirated PC games, the kids where I'm from got that from playing the PS2 with no internet :blob_hmm: (the internet did exist in the late 2000s, but we had no idea how to use it)

Same experience but wildly different paths :blob_hmm:

I think I should clarify something. Pirated games =\= pirated via internet. There were companies\individuals who would pirate the game and then sell it as originals, mass producing copies.

From my personal experience, I think the country and what people played in their younger days mattered more, as it was the local community that was connected to it.

Back in my country in the 2000s, the internet existed, but only a handful of people used it, not like today. So, everyone played games in local communities. In my experience, when we were kids and teens, we usually talked with schoolmates about which games were good or played them on the weekends. We often played together at each other's houses.

Right now, the ones I know, including my brother, rarely play new titles, just the ones we’re familiar with from our younger days. Another factor is genre taste. If the game is familiar enough to what we used to play, we might end up liking the new titles.

I think console gaming in my country might die with the younger generation now. As far as I know, the ones who play it are around my adult generation, and PC gaming is much more popular. Most kids play mobile games these days, and I don’t think they will buy consoles when they grow up.

I guess living in a small community of very recluse people made me very resistant to spending money on something I could get(pirated) or cheaper through a dealer.

My uncle used to buy the game and then copy pasted it to sell it for cheaper at his shop ( His shop still has customers which is worrying?)

I don't even know what to say here most of the games I have played are either from this old game boy knock off which at the time cost less than a dollar (for some reason now it costs 39.99 $, I guess it's a scam)

Or on my smartphone never tried pc games or console games. As for my taste in games that is varied since I have play pretty much every genre I could think of (aside from those frisky genre's or visual novel games.)

I got the Super Nintendo when I was like....6 or 7? Only cost 10$ and came with 40-50+ games because the owners didn't want it and their kids were already getting into PS1 and PS2. I've ALWAYS been behind on the technological curve. I didn't get a PS2 until I was 19. I didn't get a cellphone until I was 21, bought it for myself. I skipped XBOX, XBOX 360, and PS3 altogether. Didn't get my first computer until I was 26 and it was a Windows Vista which was.....old. So old it couldn't be updated. I got a PS4 4 years ago, and I'm still playing years worth of catch up since I missed practically the entire gaming scene growing up.

Since I didn't get a working computer that I could connect to the internet until 5 years ago, I'm very behind on the PC gaming scene as well. I don't understand much of the lingo because I missed it. I'm 32, but people online think I'm older because I just...don't understand things. I missed all of the pop-culture.

I came extremely late to the gaming/cellphone scene. For example, I had a 63 year old woman need to explain to me what a "blog" was. I was 28. She was 63. Let that sink in.
