Yes... but no. Some stories handle systems well, Solo Leveling and Novel's Extra.

I think I kind of occasionally mix up between system that is just a stat window (still a broken cheat because: a. You can see progress. b. Somehow the stats and skill levels do not degrade over time of inactivity) and system that is literally 深蓝，加点！(MTL: Dark blue, add some (points) ! Where all MC has to do is to earn points "somehow" and then brokenly leveling up his skills and stats like no business)

Both are terrible, but often justified as "heaven sent talent" and after seeing some of the antagonists' bullshit, I can't really disagree.

Everyone likes to write slop because it's fast and easy, readers don't make a discernment for it when it's a "fresh" idea like with systems, but there will be a time when someone knows how to do the trope so well anything worse will be labeled b tier or schlok, if it hasn't come yet, but we won't know for a while.

I disagree with you. Some stories are trash with a system, but some stories are trash without a system. It really falls on the author and how they use it. I don't discredit any genre, but I judge the story individually.

I wish more system books would include hacking others' systems and complaining it failed and crashed. Or when a new skill gets acquired, it fails compiling and you need to reach tech support, some indian guy who scams you out of skill points.
