So? Have any of you done this before? Or... Considering this idea?

I've already added a poem in a particular chapter. And now I think... It was a great thing to do. The scene was something like this:

A woman remembering his lover. The things she did and does for his comeback. And asks if it's really impossible for them to meet again.

If you have already done this... Send me the chapter link. I'm really curious to know how else can it be pulled off.

Yeah. I plan on doing that in future as well.

It's just that... It's really hard for me to do that... I'm very picky on choosing words *Ugh*
Yep, just do it, its your story after all. I put some poems on the Arc Markers on my story.
Yosh. I'll do it again.

... As arc markers... Sounds great 🤔

Send me those chapter links! I wanna see!

I can't stand my own poetry. I've tried in the past but it just was not good. Nothing against anyone doing it - Tolkien did it well, and Weiss and Hickman made some good use of it in their stories (though they had their poetry set to music), for example, and James Joyce often seemed to cross the line between poetry and prose in Ulysses, it's just not something I'm good enough at to do myself.

Hmmmm, yes, I have, it does bring a new perspective to your writing to do so.

(The chapter where I did isn't posted yet, so don't check for it. At first, I wished to write something like a war song for an important figure in the world, but in the end, I turned it into poetry and... yeah, an interesting experience ^^.

If you haven't, I encourage you to do so, with your own words.

I see... Although it's sad... It's understandable... For me... If I intentionally try to write a poem... I'm at a loss for words... But... There are times when I just write without intending... After I finish the part... And read... I see that it's become a poem, lol.

Ikr!? I also haven't uploaded the chapter here yet. AND... I've only done it with one chapter so far. BUT... I want to do it again!

Yeah - when I do that, about 2/3 of the time it's just bad doggerel, the other third it's decent, but too personal to share while I'm alive.

For the novel I'm working on now, every chapter starts with a short poem. It allows me to experiment with language in a way I otherwise wouldn't, include some extra artistic flourish in my novel, and as a worldbuilding exercise (all of the poems are diegetic).

Just do it.
Depending on the context when you do, you might want to change the default indent for the poem, but that's really the only suggestion I have to offer on the subject.
