This is just an idea that popped in my head and I'll treat it as a suggestion for you. You could have the fantasy world treat some portion of these estranged nations with similar behavior that a fictional South Africa had with the stranded aliens in the movie "District 9".

At one point, I did have in mind to do one of those stories. I had thought about one of the villainess's followers (you know, they come in a pack) being used as a guinea pig for a summoning ritual. She'd be in the tradition circle, the summoning completes, and a demon possesses the follower...

Tilly Lilly. Tilly means "mighty in battle" (Eastern Frankish) and Lilly means "purity" (Latin). I like that name. Tilly Lilly likes that name too, but not because of its origins (chanting Tilly Lilly is silly fun, woohoo! :blob_party:).
