If it's from a separate character, make sure to show it's not the main character. I make mine super obvious, since I do a lot of POVs in my novel. It might also be good to throw an Unreliable Narrator tag on the story if your MC's worldview isn't realistic.

When I had time to read, I would have a tab saved for each novel I was reading. This tab would be on the most recent chapter, and I would check to see if the next chapter button was working yet. I would check more often when I was excited for the next chapter. Perhaps other people do the same...

There are plenty of real world examples though, so I find it hard to call unrealistic. People aren't saints and even saints do bad things for people they love. If you are seeing these things a lot, then it means others must enjoy reading them. Sometimes it lets people feel a bit of that...

Post it and see if other people cringe. If they do you can always edit your chapters to be more dignified, but if you never post it you'll never know.
