    How do you Control Infodumps?

Attack with exposition? If you have to do an info dump, do it in a way that messes with the MC and causes drama, so people are distracted? Also, surely exposition avoidance scales with Charisma? ?

I call my book a fantasy romance, but it is super subjective. I am confident in the fantasy part (it has shifty mythological monster magic), but the romance part is a bit harder -- because a lot of romance readers care A LOT about genre, and the difference between a ROMANCE and a romantic...

    Man, Mankind, or Humanity?

'Nice bloodstain, bro! And wearing it like a scarf is genius.' 'Thanks, I reckon it goes really well with my INCONSPICUOUS FLUORESCENT RED BODY!!' (Side note, I somehow spelled 'fluorescent' correctly on the first go. I feel like that deserves a bottomless bottle of mountain dew as a reward...

Why are there so few video game fanfics?

It all started as just a big misunderstanding. The Squares of Solitude were massing troops on their western border. All for 'training exercises' they said. Nothing more than a show of their sovereign rights. But the Alliance of Bent Blocks knew the bitter truth: the Solitude had long-converted...

    Username and Avatar

On Inkitt and Wattpad I use my big, dopey B/W face. But on here and RR, real faces seemed way less common, so I went with a nerd in a dragon onsie instead.:ROFLMAO:

Writing Any advice on how to properly structure an arc/volume of a novel?

The best advice I've ever heard is: 'No-one cares about your plot; they care about your characters.' Structure the journey in terms of a character's growth and change, their goals and flaws, and it all makes a lot more sense. For a free resource, KM Weiland's blog on creating character arcs is...

Let's expand our vocabulary, what are your favorite words?

That is amazing! I didn't know there was a name for that cold / earthy / clean smell after rain. For me, I overuse my two favourite m-words: myriad and meander.

Do you guys found authors who use simple words and sentence boring in their stories?

As much as possible, I try to link word choice to my characters and their backgrounds — not just in dialogue, but also in description. My own vocabulary tends towards fancy / posh, so I always try to cut out 'university' words for characters that wouldn't think or talk like that.

Writing Including an epilogue for a short story.

Weird link, but in photography, there is a concept of the tension of the incomplete. A photo of four things will rarely be as appealing as three, because our brains pair up even numbers and consider them ordered, whereas three things seem somehow unfinished. That creates interest, mystery...

    Real names.

I am not a fan of my real name, but I love my pen name. Everyone in Australia gets 'nickname-ified'. Jason becomes Jace. David becomes Dave-o. Philip Jackson becomes PJ. But my first and last name don't work in that context, so I never had a proper nickname. There are few things sadder than...

When did you wrote your first creative work?

Yeah, also poetry for me. 12/13 or something like that. I wasn't writing angsty stories with barely disguised self-inserts as a teenager, I was writing shithouse poetry and thinking I was SOOOO edgy :ROFLMAO:

Writing How do you write more words faster?

External story versus internal story? 1K is a bit much for a normal walk, but a lot of underwriters do forget to spend time 'thinking out loud' with their character -- showing readers how they are processing everything and letting them into their character. Re writing a lot of words quickly...
