Editing Anyone looking for a paid editor?

This also applies to webnovels funnily enough. A long time ago, when there were only a few english translators of japanese/chinese novels, people are very okay with machine translated nonsense. I was also okay with it even if it fried a few brain cells per chapters, so long as it was the popular...

    How do you plan?

Best find out if you're a pantser or a plotter first, then ask those specific types of people how they go about their story. It's going to be bad if a pantser, for example, tries to be a plotter. Not to say that a pantser has zero plans, just that they go about their stories differently. Vast...

    Royal Road?

I just use drafts tab in RR. I don't even visit my dashboard.

Have you guys ever burned yourselves out reading?

If actual burning out (not just disliking the story and stopping), then probably reading Pact by Wildbow.

    My only pet peeve… well

Webnovels are mostly reader wish fulfillment these days. They're for relaxation and chilling and escaping from the world. If you want actual struggles, then you're going to dive deep to find webnovels that don't go that route. Or better yet, go back to older works before wish-fulfilment was the...

Why webnovel tiles are long and optimized? Should I do the same?

Not traditional for western books. But that's the norm in Japanese light novels, and it sort of bled into the western side because the same "issues" (short reader attention span, not reading the synopsis, genre-based reading) are in the English webnovel industry.

Why webnovel tiles are long and optimized? Should I do the same?

As stated above my comment, people rarely read synopsis (life is too fast now). The other thing is that webnovel readers are mostly genre-based, so like if you're a fan of reincarnation, you'll probably go for something with "Re:" at the start. So, there are naming "conventions" for webnovels...

    The VR Genre

Even litrpgs of the fantasy real-world type are low stakes. Like, we know that the MC is not going to die, especially if it's also OP MC genre. The web/light novel will go on for hundreds of chapters, and no one is thinking that the MC will die no matter the stakes. And we don't care about side...

How fast do you guys type?

I can type very, very fast. But thinking of what to type, then I'm very, very slow. :blob_teary:

    Writing Two writing tips

    1. Starting slow is a good tip for writing and building a good foundation for a story but a very bad one in terms of marketing for web novels. Authors, especially Chinese authors, want to catch the readers to continue the series. It's kind of like axing mangas in a sense. The examples you gave...

What is your opinion on the site literotica.com?

Never said it was good. I specifically said that it looked like that for 20+ years now. Sure. I'm not trying to influence anyone's opinions here. Again, I said it's a 20+ year old design. So not sure what's the point of criticizing it when they don't care. I was explaining why it looks like...

What is your opinion on the site literotica.com?

Guys, that site has been around since ancient days. Literally ancient days. I can't recall any older site that collects erotic stories older than that. It's like 25 years old, and older than most people here (way older than wattpad too). It also hasn't changed its design much since 20+ years...

What are the best place to post high fantasy series apart from SH and RR

As of now, none. Used to be RR, but RR changed these past few years just like how SH became homogenous. Maybe put numbers to make your fantasy into gamelit of some kind... which isn't probably what you want. So the big sites are RR, SH, WN, maybe Wattpad too. - (Wattpad) There are actually a...

    Character Flaws

This is rarely talked about, but web novels have a different way of handling flaws. There are many writing advice that clashes against how web novel readers behave. People can drop a web novel easily when they see a flaw that they hate before the character arc reaches completion. For example...

How much is a healthy word count?

Stephen King's daily word count is 2k. Brandon Sanderson is 2.5k. Granted, their "drafts" are already way more polished than us amateur writers, so that word count may be way more in terms of effort if converted to web novel standards. I do 2k-2.5k because I noticed that if I crank out 5k one...

    Recommendations Oddly specific start scenario

This is what makes your request hard to find. The scenario you're looking for is common enough, and there are many xianxias like that, as you said, but after that, you're essentially asking for character development in web novels. I also thought of this, but it's an actual book, not a web...

    I lost interest in reading

That's probably because of your release schedule. That happened to me too around half a year ago when I started to release at a fast rate. But now that I'm releasing even more, I'm starting to read again and examine other works because I feel that I'm stagnating because of focusing on release...

    Why the narrative world building?

You can say that. Actually, better not say it. Just get right on the plot and talk about the sci-fi stuff as if it's normal (because it is normal for the characters). What you can expo about are the problems of the MC without it looking like an info dump. Take Dune. The start does have some...

    Why the narrative world building?

When it comes to web novels, it should be set up quite fast because people can click away. This is the internet. So many thousands of webnovels out there. If a story promises an OP MC waking up in the new world, you better transport the MC over to the new world and explain the setting quickly...

What do you think about this cover?

The title is off center a bit as mentioned above, like the T is closer to the left bird than the E. It's not as evident if it's a huge picture, but if smaller than can be fully viewed, it becomes apparent.
