What is the moral message of your novel?

If nothing we do matters in the end, then the choices we make along the way are the only things that matter.

An Ember of Sundown - Fantasy and psychology wrapped in absurdist humor

Since I seem to be only attracting scammers, I thought I'd sweeten the pot a bit. I advertised the series as being humorous but the first few chapters don't really showcase that aspect while setting up the story. So here's a quick, slice-of-life scene to hopefully whet some appetites. This...

Do you keep writing novels even if your novels only have 1 or 2 digit readers (or no reader - maybe you don't publish them)?

Yes, the story I want to tell needs to be put down into words so it's out of my head. More readers would be nice but I'm proud to say that I'm racking up an impressive following of scammers on multiple sites. Whatever gets those interaction stats up I guess ?‍♂️

    Originality in Fantasy

I see using existing structure as speaking a cultural language. Sure, you could reinvent the wheel and come up with a new species of "not-orc" to fill in the role of "orc". Then you need to spend pages explaining them just to get your reader to picture what amounts to an orc. Now, if there's...

What do you do when as a writer you lose your passion for fiction?

I stop thinking of my characters in the plot and just imagine random slice-of-life scenes. It can be stupid, noncanon, or just nonsensical but it usually helps me relax and stop worrying about genre. It's like watching a group of friends interact.

    Welcome thread for the newbies!

Hello- Just joined, looking to gather readers and feedback for a series I've been working on for about a year and a half. I like to read sci-fi and fantasy, but I lean more toward stories that play with convention. I write only in fantasy right now, aiming for that same mix—think Douglas...
