I do read them. But I don’t write them. I had given some thought about turning my first chapter into a prologue, but so many people skip them. My story would make a lot less sense if that info was skipped over, so I kept it as chapter one.

Almost never. I’m constantly weighing words for meaning and sentence structure for cadence. My mind is always focused on the paragraph before me. It would be easier if I could go autopilot!

I am! I have a main 4 book arc planned for my fantasy series. But then I have an anthology of short stories about the different characters set in the same fantasy world. I work on it when I need a break from the main series.

The best feedback I had came from a review on another platform, I had a reader say my book gave her Arthurian legend vibes through a Tolkien lens. I was like ??? I haven’t had much bad feedback. Most of what I’ve had has been a reader mismatch: “this is boring”, “I’d like more romance,” etc...

Sometimes they come from parts of quotes in the chapter. Or I try to think thematically. Like ‘Embers Beneath Ash,’ ‘Carrying the Fire,’ etc. It depends on what the chapter conveys.

That was me with my Goblins. I wanted to tell a story that was largely told from their viewpoint. I wanted them to be actual people, not caricatures or monsters. But a misunderstood race who had a long history and deep culture.
