What are your general writing hot takes?

The monkey's paw curls. I shall now exclusively write stories featuring vampires that are comically evil antagonists.

    Writing Regarding POV

Funny answer: Change perspectives every other sentence. Serious answer: Depends on the story you want to write. Introspective stories are usually better in the first person. Ones that focus on the environment external to the protagonist, I'd write in the third person. There's also different...

    Am I the only one?

Whenever I write, I usually don't write chronologically. Rather, I write the parts I want to write first, which primarily is the climax and the ending of the story, and then I work backwards/forwards from there. I'm currently working on a new one that has much of the ending done - but the...

How would you describe your main protagonist as poorly as possible?

Forrest Gump in a fantasy setting

Is it difficult to write a original story without copying other's idea?

There is no such thing as a new idea under the sun. If you think something is original, someone else probably has thought of it before. The execution is what is important. Personally, I'm rather transparent with what pieces of work inspired mine.

How would you describe your main antagonist as poorly as possible?

    Intelligence overflow back into stupidity.

How would you describe your favorite antagonist as poorly as possible?

A monk who was saved by the protagonist and the two share a meal together. He can't be bad, can he? Nope. Proceeds to murder a God.

What Is Something Extra That You Did That In Your Story That Might Have Gone Unnoticed?

I've managed to apply the same economic principles that surrounded the 2020-2022 video card shortages/cryptocurrency mining craze to a fantasy setting that doesn't know what electricity is.

    Hobgoblin V Hobogoblin

Are stories becoming just MC OP and pleasure-seeking?

Powerful protagonists are not necessarily new, and most stories that trend that way has a tendency to gradually... 'fall off', so to speak. No challenges for the protagonist if s/he is walking around the world and going full Biden Blast on anyone that looks at them funny. Mix in multiple uppity...

Don't Confuse Plot with Story and Story Engines

I thought I knew a lot about writing - then I ran into you, and realized that I still have a ton of things to learn. Looks like I will be binging your channel for the next few days. This is excellent information, I really appreciate you putting it out here.

    Unpopular Opinions

Oh goodness, Cinemasins. Their older videos where they poked fun in a parodic manner at movies were fun. Now people take them and their nitpicky videos seriously.

    Unpopular Opinions

Okay, now I'm curious. The saying goes "There are no new ideas under the sun"?

    Unpopular Opinions

I shall now proceed to write a story where the protagonist disassociates himself from how he looks to such an extent that he sees the person in the mirror as an entirely different individual for the entirety of the plot.

    I will judge your shovels

The protagonist's shovel from my current story, it's named "Shov-ar". Magically-enchanted shovel that has the same use case as a netherite hoe from Minecraft. It can dig through anything non-living. Useless against plant roots. Very useful against rocks.

Any books you've read when you were really young that you liked back in the day, that wouldn't pass your bar for what you'd consider quality today?

Let's restrict this to published paperback physical copies, because I don't doubt that all of us have read web stories that we enjoyed back then, that we would not touch with a 10-foot pole today. That, and I don't want to accidentally bash anyone who publishes on the internet, because the...

    Which Tags are red flags?

Lovely. Myself, I'm writing one where the main character takes it in stride, but is ultimately never really able to fully adjust. Fanfiction can be great, some of the best stories I've read were fanfiction. But, in general, it's one of those pieces of media that someone seeks out directly...

    Envy: On Concision

I'd make the argument that infodumping is legally only considered infodumping if the reader feels like it is infodumping.

    Which Tags are red flags?

Over the past two years, I've found that I generally dislike reading stories that incorporate video game mechanics in a "leveling system". I can understand their appeal, but there's a more fundamental issue I have with RPG mechanics: It's an idea that somewhat discourages discipline when it...

Writing If I were to write a novel do you want ME to write it in 3rd or 1st person. specifically ME, what do you want ME to DO?

I recommend writing in the... Actually, have you checked your steam library lately? Maybe there's some games you haven't finished yet, you should complete them. And if there aren't I know there's actually a pretty damn good sale going on, get a game or two. Y'know, it doesn't hurt to step away...
