Male & Female Psychology in Writing

It's not even that; when used appropriately, scientific description can really add to a story. But when that science is based around gender or sex it's Really easy for it to come off as sexist.

Male & Female Psychology in Writing

You can say "a majority of women have X trait" but those majorities are more like 60% than 90%. Even if women can subconsciously sniff out testosterone (which wouldn't surprise me, because yeah we do smell a lot of things we don't realize), there's still a 60/40 (or 50/30/20 or whatever) split...

    novels shouldn't coddle you

Sorry but something about "Books should hurt you" is funny. Shame on everyone who reads for fun. I know you're trying to sound smart, but you come off as pretentious. I can read books with dense prose and symbolism, and then I can go read mass-market sci-fi and romance, and I can enjoy both...

What to do with R18 images inside chapters?

If it's just nudity and suggestive stuff, then censor it with pixels, black bars, or something like that. When characters are nude in my series, I make 2 versions of the illustration: the uncensored version, and the censored version with white scribbles over the nude bits. The latter are the...

    Scam or prank???

Sounds scammy I got some saucy texts from a stranger a few weeks ago, and she (or "she") was claiming that we knew each-other. The scammer was fishing for lonely people to send them money (or nudes, that they could then use for blackmail) Your situation is different but it's still suspicious...

    app?

An app sounds cool in theory, but I'm against the idea. Mainly because it would put SH at the mercy of big companies like Apple (if the app were to be listed on their store) which could lead to stricter content guidelines. That's one of the big reasons why I left Tapas.

    Question for fellow authors

I write and edit one chapter at a time. My process is typically as follows: Draft 0: Outline general scenes and things I want to happen Draft 1: Write scenes in whatever order I want, in however much detail I want. Some scenes will have detailed paragraphs, others will be entirely dialogue...

    anyone write erotic horror?

Furry isn't popular here but there aren't rules against it. I've seen a few other furry writers around, plus my series is heavily furry-adjacent and hasn't been taken down

    New novels

Like others have said, it's good to have a backlog. I also wouldn't post the chapters the day you write them- let em sit for at least a week, so that you can look them over and make edits. The stuff I post goes through multiple drafts.

    anyone write erotic horror?

I dabble in erotic horror but haven't published any of it- my current series (Katabasis) has erotic horror elements, but that's alongside other plot threads and there's no actual smut, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I've done research into fearplay (the BDSM kind) for some unpublished shorts, so you might find...

    Explain your magic system

My magic system only has two spells. Technically anyone can use them, you just have to learn how, similar to learning a trade. The first is used to create an energetic bond between a human and a creature called a fae. Bound fae are known as familiars; they steadily feed off this shared energy...

How Do You Grow a Thick Skin?

For critique: Critiquing someone's work takes energy. It helps to approach it from the standpoint of "this person is taking the time to help me grow as an author." Nobody's work is perfect. For comments and criticism: Every author is gonna get 1 star reviews and angry comments. Famous...

Do you plan ahead or write as you go?

I don't plan ahead super hard, but for each chapter I have a general idea of scenes, story beats, etc. that I want to include. It helps keep things moving at a nice pace

Book covers --- Artists are obsolete

one day AI will be able to generate prose, any story you could imagine, and authors will be obsolete too :sweating_profusely:

Why CN novel illustrations looks like it was generated by AI?

I've heard that some webtoons and comics are indeed going the route of using AI-generated art for backgrounds. I have mixed feelings about it, but it's understandable given how hellish their schedules can be. Plus if someone is an author but doesn't know how to draw, AI is an easy way to...
