Girls Love tags used in novels with male romance

A lot of this discussion makes me wish that readers and fans added tags, not authors, much like a database website would (e.g. VNDB). And then individual chapters could be tagged for NSFW or other content warnings, or the casts could be tagged for "cute protagonist" or "bisexual protagonist" and...

    Writing and MTL

I feel bad for readers who will undoubtedly be confused by the poorly translated lines in many people's stories. Idioms and descriptive language will be lost, and some dialogue will be rendered unreadable. But... the readers who are intense enough into stories to do this know that going in, and...

The Elements of Style by William Strunk and E. B. White. Or. The Dangerous Little Grammar Book.

I have read a few style guides in my time (I DID major in Writing & Linguistics so it was for classes... mostly... please don't bully me), and they have helped immensely in understanding the rules of communication through text. There's a reason there are so many grammatical rules in writing that...

Recommendations In need of fluffy/feels-good novels

I don't know if recommendations here are supposed to be Scribble Hub-only, but if not, there's tons of good feel-good or fluff stories on Tapas. My favorite is the webcomic Issues, which is just plain adorable. You're welcome for the next two hours of binging.

    Write About Deadly WAIFUS

Absolutely. I've been waiting to write a story about some noir-style assassin waifu saving her helpless husbando in a spy adventure (that turns out to be sci-fi halfway through) for all my life! Even if I just thought of this idea at this exact moment.

How do you decide if your story is a success or a failure?

Until the business side of writing starts to take precedence, my only goal is to make stories that emotionally move as many readers as possible, whether that's laughter or swooning or tears or any other emotion. If they read my stories and enjoy them enough that they'll remember them two years...

How the heck do you get people to discover already-finished stories?

Oops, you're right. That site has a lot of issues with discovery, but you definitely can search Complete stories, and ones by genre, quite easily. In fact, it takes about five seconds to start from the Complete tag and find multiple of my completed stories on there.

How the heck do you get people to discover already-finished stories?

Oh I didn't think readers went on these forums so I didn't really think about it. If that actually helps, I'm all for changing my signature. Thanks for all the advice on what to do with completed stories, everyone. A lot of the tips won't work with Hands Held specifically (I won't be selling...

How the heck do you get people to discover already-finished stories?

Well then it's good I always have lots of stories to post :blob_sir: Wow, I really see how difficult it is for completed stories. I never even realized how lacking it is, and I'm actually baffled by it; why wouldn't the site want to promote stories that are definitely all there for people to...

How the heck do you get people to discover already-finished stories?

I've come into a puzzling dilemma that I'm not sure how to solve (or if it's even worth solving). When you finish a story, what can you do to make sure it doesn't just sit around and gather dust? I've been pondering this for a while to no avail so far. My story Hands Held in the Snow finished...

[Event - Closed] Sappho's Spinning Wheel: A Yuri Garden Collaborative Anthology Event

I'm really glad the reservations don't end until Nanowrimo is almost over, because I would have been screwed otherwise lol

Is anyone else bothered by the large amount of gl novels containing het?

This thread helped me realize how much certain tags actually matter for searching. In the beginning, I had had the "bisexual protagonist" for my GL romance novel, but there was no boy-girl romance going on; I was just labeling one of the characters. I removed it later because of the tag limit...

    Arrogance and Cuties outrage.

I knew it! Netflix wins again because the world is too gullible. The movie is a huge hit and everyone is watching it.

    The twenty-thousand word chapter.

I did a "CYOA" adventure game once as a chapter in my web serial and it was about 12,000 words long; my goal was to make a single chapter longer than that one 40-page chapter in Bakemonogatari and barely succeeded. Generally, though, I would be so angry to read a 20,000 word chapter, because...
