Would you hire an editor for a webnovel?

True, but unless the editor was someone I knew personally or at least heard good word about, I wouldn’t trust it. Editing things like novels is much more time consuming than any other scripture, even web novels take up a lot of time, which is why it’s an actual job. And if this is an actual...

Would you hire an editor for a webnovel?

Most people would say no because having an editor does cost money unless they are doing it for free. So, I just tacked it up there to get a more realistic response to those who would ever consider getting an editor. Then again, the comment section might as well serve the purpose as the editor...

Would you hire an editor for a webnovel?

Just a question to ask about. I do freelance editing in my off time, so I wondered whether of not anyone online would even be interested because of how different online publishing is compared to novel deals or of contracted releases with a publishing house. I usually edit my own works and get my...

GoogleDocs writers - how to organise story chapters?

I have one doc for my general ideas and bullet pointed plot points I want to hit for each chapter, and then I have another document with all of my actual story. Each chapter has a header title so that I can navigate to it from the outline feature and quickly scroll through the entire story on...

Grant permissions for people to view and edit unpublished novels

I agree with this. This would introduce a more seamless way of finding an editor or "beta-reader" on the site, while also making it versatile for authors who don't use google docs to still have an option to find people who are willing to look over the story, as not all authors use google docs...

    SSSC V

I'm gonna go completely off the rocker with this one! I'm gonna write the saddest story you will ever read and it'll be a huge collection of poems with an overarching story! Prepare to cry! Unless poetry isn't allowed... and in that case... R.I.P. (insert pun here).

I can't seem to get my bearings on writing or think by myself

When I get stuck on a plot point and can’t find a way to write, or have all these ideas but can’t type them down, I talk to my friends, and usually they pop with a suggestion. This is because authors are blind to flaws in their own work most of the time, while others with a different perspective...

How long should a regular chapter be?

I always go for the 2000 word count. It’s hknestly a matter of preference, but unless you are updating frequently (multiple chapters daily or weekly), most readers will not stick around for chapters at 1000 words or less.

That’s what I worry about mostly, because the only way I can guarantee a set schedule is if I put my books on hiatus for a while to stock up chapters and release accordingly once I have enough buffer for school time activities :(

Ability to Down Vote on Forums

While I completely understand the reason of not having a down vote feature applicable to the forums, there are many sections here where authors give advice and readers discuss topics that are easily debatable. Sometimes people just give outright rude or sarcastic comments that aren't really...
