Imagine Fantasy creatures as realistic as possible, without any mana and magic bullshit. They are not lovetcarft horrors with unexplainable powers.

As a majority of "fantasy creatures" were based on (usually bad) descriptions of real creatures... one on one they would fare just as they do in the Old Stories (eat the "NPCs" and fall to the "Heroes"); against a group of humans, even untrained ones but with modern gear? They would generally...

    How come...

The two most talkative taxi drivers I had were both in Milwaukee, WI - one was one of the best I ever had (even did not start the meter until two blocks after he picked me up), the other was one of the worst (meter was running before I got in, and he actually admitted he was taking a longer...

About one hour less than my wife, so two to four depending on what time the TV goes on... :D

    Glossary Word Limit

Mixed thoughts when it gets to this level - might be better served by a link to a setting Wiki than a simple glossary at that point. Say, does the glossary thing support external links?

things that bother me about novels

No, I WONDER if that is the case, or if by wondering it, I prove it is not. Kind of a Schroedinger's Diagnosis, I guess.

Writing I want to write a dystopian society.

If they don't fit the trope exactly, they skirt it - and I would suggest using one or more of them for reference, but not copying them, myself. Honestly depends on the skill of the writer - anything can be compelling (have seen some catalogs that had more interesting descriptions than items...

What your opinion on olympic 2024?

My wife usually loves the Olympics and has them running on the TV in the background for the entire duration, but that opening ceremony turned her off so badly she has just followed a few headlines and, if she turns the TV on, it is to watch Korean television "dramedy" or historical or historical...

Writing I want to write a dystopian society.

There was a movie called, IIRC, "Pleasantville" which kind of dealt with this - but the "protagonist" was the arrival of color in a black and white world, which nobody knew WAS oppressive until color showed up. There are also stories like The Stepford Wives (dystopian late 60's/early 70s for...

Gosh darn “I travel into a novel” gripes

I can't do that but I've met people who can... Heck, had a roommate who could memorize gaming charts. And not just the easy ones, he ran RoleMaster (often called "ChartMaster" by critics) and usually only had to consult the books and game master screen three or four times a session. Me, I...

[Ask a lesbian] Do you like big tits catgirl?

Not a lesbian (unless I am a lesbian trapped in a man's body, I guess), and ambivalent on both, together or separately... But I do love cats. Though not the movie Cats.

things that bother me about novels

More the unexplained behavior - things I thought were just nervous habits or muscle spasms show up as regular actions on some of these characters. I don't melt down as easily but I also don't have any single "savant" trait so maybe not but... it makes me wonder of some of the medical diagnoses...

things that bother me about novels

Watching Korean Dramas and acting like some of the characters. Then again, I've noticed a common trope in Korean television is autistic characters - and their behavior matches a lot of mine, so maybe mom is right (and most of the doctors I've had wrong) and I AM on the spectrum...

    Recommend me anything like ena

So is "Ena" essentially surrealist literature? Most of what I've seen was in the form of play - Rhinoceros, Waiting For Godot, Rozencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead - or by one of two authors (Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, both sadly deceased), or the 90s Doom Patrol comic book... One of...

New writer here looking for thoughts on my story so far!

Only read the first chapter but looks like a very solid first draft (probably better than many of my own). Some clumsy word usage (for example, is Colleen "petite" - a woman of either short stature or small frame - or does Cadel know she is an illusionist or shapeshifter who only appears to be...

Gosh darn “I travel into a novel” gripes

If the MC has some form of autism or obsessive/compulsive disorder, or a photographic memory, it makes sense that they would recall everything. But otherwise, odds are some of the small details stick out while some of the larger themes and story elements do not, given human nature. One of the...
