It does seem pretty perceptible. So that eases things up for me. They must've put a lot of work into ironing that out, though. What a jump.

Those sites seem nice enough, but my character reading is WEAK WEAK. I'll try to look at it more often bit by bit as I study more. But I'm grateful since can serve as good language training for me :)

Inversely, though, a language with few speakers has little power to cry out, since it's a smaller market. I'll guess that's what happened to Japanese and Korean.

As for translations, machines can be very iffy. I always try my best to know at least a bit of the language I'm looking into. It's extremely easy to botch/falsify a machine translation, especially if it's a language with many versions and dialects. The more widely spoken it is, the easier it gets.

At least there's that to look forward to, I guess. The best standard of quality is a community that doesn't compromise and actively looks for what it truly likes and respects, instead of waiting for someone to tell them what to like. I like that about the indie side. No filter. You just write...

Frustrating to read, and audiences get tired. Chinese political control only damages media in that same way, geez. This kind of thing can either lead to audiences tiring and giving up, or becoming braindead NPC's. But only time can tell that.

Sure, they're not 'censored', in the classic sense of the word, but they're all curated to be similar and chase trends and target audiences, thus become extremely samey and boring.

I see. If everything is contantly under tight control, though, eventually all the works and movies will look and sound the same. The same person is controlling them, thus there is no true variety. I'm not all that well-versed in Chinese-specific media, but just look at current woke Marvel comics...

Strange, isn't it? It's like respect for art and free speech is slowly vanishing everywhere. In places like China, though, it must be even stronger considering the way I see authors and their creations being treated there. Like, geez. Why would you do that? Why would you try to ruin someone's...

    A&Dtertainment

Oh man. And here I thought this shitty story arc was already over for good. Listen up, young one. Step 1: Run for your life. Step 2: Read this poetic little piece of literature I've been keeping in my sleeve...

    Write a satirical isekai story

And then... OMSR TRUCK-KUN CAME BACK FOR HIM AGAIN!! (channeling my strongest inner fanfiction.net energy, might as well end every story like that too)

    ??! Prologues are Criminal !??

No, they're not. There's thousands of different types of prologues. My prologues, for example, generally would consist of an intro scene focusing a bit on some secondary characters. It helps make the novel world feel a bit more 'lived in' right off the bat. Sure, you can always complain that...

    Writing Story improvement

Consistency is key. Also not writing twists just for the sake of having twists in there. If there's nothing to twist to begin with, then you're just twisting empty air.

    Why?

This isn't New York Times, man. This is ScribbleHub. For better or worse, we're all, like, super-lazy. We read, we steal leave cookies and we ditch the story. The non-lazy users are probably expending their energy writing worlds of their own instead of reviewing, so you're left with a very quiet...

Does your MC have a backup plan in case they lose their power?

I gave them a dozen bags of plot armor and angst powerups to make use of for the duration. They're gonna be juuuust fine. Trust me, bro.

What sort of Self-Inserts are annoying

Depends on what effect you're aiming for. The only clear-cut things that would annoy me would be... POLITICALLY INCORRECT RANT INCOMING First of all hypocrisy without self-awareness (that is, author made a very hypocritical and amoral character while the story lauds them as a flawless hero...

    Is English restrictive?

English is easy enough to write for me. It is somewhat restrictive, though, in the sense that it's much harder to say something meaningful with little words like in my mother language. Verbs (or at least their conjugations) all sound the same for many pronouns, so you always have to put one in...
