How do you come up with names?

I’ve gained almost a decade of experience randomly generating names because of all my headmates having to name ourselves

BE NOT AFRAID. I will read your chapters and give hopeless feedback. [Closed but if you send it, I might re-open]

Oh those are just more chapters, you can ignore those if you want

    ADHD feedback for your chapters

It’s been so tempting to let it loose and publish, but I’ve heard consistency with updating is important… Plus, the longer I put off posting this, the more time I have to A) retcon whatever I want, and B) endlessly edit the beginning :blob_happy:

How traumatized is your main character?

Let’s see… Chapter 1: Chapter 2: Chapter 8: Chapter 10: Chapter 15: Trauma? Whatever that is, I doubt they have much of it

We don't need AI Slop illustration [RANT]

I just realized I forgot to say my own opinion on this… I can understand AI cover art if someone’s desperate from no other options. But slapping AI art onto the end of every single chapter… feels not good.

We don't need AI Slop illustration [RANT]

It’s kind of giving me whiplash to see so many people who hate AI writing with a rabid passion suddenly turn around and support AI artwork

What three things made the core of your story?

    1. Dreams - Every story I write is based on at least one nightmare I've had before. (I get lots and lots of nightmares, probably average around one a day.) 2. Ludicrous power - I like fantasy, and also I usually have magical powers in my dreams, so the protagonist gets to be OP too. They're...

    Scribblehub Author Culture

Your name seems really familiar... oh, you're from SCP! I've read way too much of that in the past, some of your stuff included. I'm new here myself, but I've been reading for a while and I can at least say that paragraphs should be short enough to break up the text on a small mobile screen...

    ADHD feedback for your chapters

I feel like slow pacing is always going to be my greatest enemy, so let's see how quickly you stop with this. Chapter 1: https://write.ellipsus.com/edit/cf843f5e-f819-43ea-b77e-bdecf6a642ba Chapter 2: https://write.ellipsus.com/edit/c9dace26-981a-4dae-8157-d5f238f2c9f0 Chapter 3...

Do you listen to music when writing?

Usually I don’t put on any music. However, there is always random music constantly playing in my head, nonstop, all the time, if that counts.

Feedbag Thread For Indie Writers of Original Fictions [Closed Till I Catch Up]

Hello I am in need of both food and bag I recently rewrote the intro for my story (coincidentally, the first three chapters) in order to raise the stakes, since there were like no stakes in the original version. But now I worry it’s bloated and even slower. I haven’t posted this on SH yet since...

How long does it take you to write 2500 words?

Maybe 2-3 hours for the first draft... and then 10 more hours of editing split up across multiple sessions :blob_cringe: I usually end up with multiple chapters in progress at the same time thanks to this.

    Do you use em dash?

I rarely use the em-dash; I learned about semicolons first.

How was your first writing experience?

The first time I tried writing was nearly a decade ago, with short horror stories. I was constantly stuck in head-empty-no-thoughts mode, and I never knew which words I was supposed to use to write the scenes in my head. Thankfully, almost a decade of no writing later, I have magically become...

What's the smallest thing that could change your entire storyline?

If my MC didn't run through a specific random path through a labyrinth in a dream, the multiverse would eventually be consumed by an eldritch monstrosity. And then all the multiverse's alternate timelines would also get consumed by their own versions of said monstrosity.

Do authors want readers to point out spelling/typos in comments?

I for one would appreciate the free proofreading and the comments for algorithm boosts.

Low attention span reviews and ratings [Open]

Woops, I didn't realize copying was disabled, I'll have to fix that. Hmm, if the double-body thing is the most interesting part of the synopsis I might have to reword it to give more detail; right now it gets mentioned/planned in chapter 4, starts happening in chapter 9, and doesn't become...

    Show me your retcon skills.

It feels like every other chapter I write, I have to go back and change something in a previous chapter. One time I got the day of the week wrong, so I had to change a class demonstration into a private lab session. Another time I changed the name of a skill to sound cooler, but I kept on using...

Low attention span reviews and ratings [Open]

I've been editing these endlessly for the past couple weeks, and need an excuse to do even more endless editing. Also haven't figured out how to fix the slow start in chapters 1-2... let's see how bad it is. Prologue (Will merge into chapter 1 when I finally post it in probably a year)...
