    On Intelligent/Genius Characters

This is a point a lot of authors overlook. Actually one good example of using this is the character "Logan" in "My Vampire System" - he has an obsession with machines in general and those made by a specific inventor, Richard Eno, in particular. Have not seen any of those (well, did see about...

    First versus third person POV

It's also on this site (Diamond in the Rough and Blood Diamond)- the character was created in the 90s as a Champions character, based on the concept of: "How could I make a film noir private eye be a viable superhero?" And Jack Diamond was my second attempt to answer the question, because there...

    On Intelligent/Genius Characters

*Egregious Doctor Gregory House was literally based on the "classic" smart jack@$$ of literature, Consulting Detective Sherlock Holmes - even down to a more 'relatable sidekick' with a similar name (Wilson vs. Watson). The whole concept was "Sherlock Holmes, but he solves medical mysteries...

    First versus third person POV

You mentioned it is possible to swap between 1p and 3p. It is - and, if done well it can be very effective (come to think of it, Peter David's Howling Mad did this, with most chapters being told by a semi-omniscient guy apparently interviewing the two MCs and relating it as a story, while each...

Ah, and the original poster has been silent since November 2024 AFAICT.... oh well!

    First versus third person POV

Back when I first got a Kindle, I looted free book sites. Found most of them were not worth even "free" but some were (seriously a few felt like they had been written by grade schoolers or worse; there were a couple of gems but a metric ton of dross to wade through to find them)... But there...

I hate it when my "original" idea turns out to be generic as hell.

That would fit his style... Maybe HE was the one who registered the "Smuthub.com" name and is hiding it from Hera?

Recommendations Protagonist with System from Marvel or just a cheat from marvel and he is thrust into Dc

I know I saw one somewhere but have no idea where (if it was this site or another one even). Though, to me, it might be more interesting to see an Amalgam set-up with all the characters mixed from the two universes...

    sneak peek chapter?

Not sure there'd be much point to it in this medium. Unless you're teasing future chapters on your patreon (chapters that will eventually show up here as well), it seems it would be more effort for both you AND the readers than it would be worth.

How would your main cast react to these scenarios?

One of them (either Liz or Malcolm) would wonder when they jumped worlds again, because neither the Earth they came from nor the world they are adventuring on has phoenixes. David would come up with a spell to contact one of the two dragons they know and ask for advice. The bandits have a...

I hate it when my "original" idea turns out to be generic as hell.

His greatest moment, IMO was when the character went to an 80's theme party ... in an outfit that the ACTOR wore in the 1980s (1988 or '89 IIRC)... of a character from the 1780s...

    Too on the nose?

The "colors" of a ship typically refer only to the flags, sails and maybe the figurehead/masthead on the prow. If they're sailing around in Skittles-colored ships, that is just a tad too cartoonish, but if they are part of an organized fleet, they bloody well should be sporting flags and sails...

I hate it when my "original" idea turns out to be generic as hell.

Kimba the White Lion - that and Speed Racer were my introduction to Japanese animation back before I knew what Japan - or animation, for that matter, was... The Manga may have just been "Kimba the Lion" - I never saw it - but the cartoon was "Kimba the White Lion." Really? Wish I still had...

    Good Story to Read

Hmm. Have two and a half (the half has a System, and will eventually have some "fantasy" elements, but even those are governed by a set of rules) in progress but none posted anywhere. You might want to look for "Slice of Life", "Romance," "Mystery" or just straight old "Science Fiction" and...

A good older women x younger man novel

Unless you count stories with vampires, I don't really know of any. Did watch most of a K-Drama about this a few weeks ago (Forecasting Love and Weather) which was apparently based on a Manwha. (Oh, unless you count the real world... my wife is 8 years older, and I know a guy who was 27 when...

I hate it when my "original" idea turns out to be generic as hell.

Heh - and House, MD was literally "Sherlock Holmes but a modern doctor solving medical mysteries" per the guy who created the series... (as an aside, I played a healer in a fantasy RPG based heavily on Dr. Gregory House - even down to the attitude and needing a cane to walk, but with the...
