How long should the story and chapters be?

Until I’d hit the forums I hadn’t even thought to care about how long my chapters are. I’m averaging 6k currently, so sorry that’s just how it is.

Stories with an MTF protagonist, discovering herself. Bonus points for romance!

You might like my current story: A Turn of the Moon It’s a slow-burn gender-change novel. An intimate, day-by-day domestic relationship drama of how a couple copes and adapts after a lab accident turns a husband into a woman.

How was your first experience with publishing here?

I've got back to writing a gender-bender TG/TF story after about a decade off. I was used to publishing on sites like Fictionmania, TGStorytime etc and getting engagement and several comments per chapter. Here it feels a bit like throwing the story into an abyss, but I think my numbers are...

    Story Final

With my current story, I wrote the first two chapters with a rough outline in place. Through the process of writing those chapters I pivoted away from my original premise. I then went and drafted a new chapter by chapter outline (41 chapters). I’m super excited about the final chapter and the...

    About AI use in edits

This is how I use it. Also feeding it my plot and asking it questions. Would it be better if my character discovers X fist before going on to do Y. Or should I get Z in place first. The moment it attempts to write something new for me I tell it off!

Writing Prompt How would your MC react when put in a horror movie?

My MC would react like any of us. “Oh my god, oh my god, they’re trying to get in the house… What are we going to do?” My MC’s wife on the other hand would be like “Let’s just try and remain calm. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen?”

But if you gave Notepad to your 195 But if you’d given Notepad to your 1950s writer, would they have used it? If not, why not? Why not use a story/plot management application if it’s available and you think it’ll help you?

What three things made the core of your story?

Great question! For my current story, A Turn of the Moon (Protagonist is gender-swapped) 1) Let the world gradually unfold. Similar to what you have said. My inspiration here is The Lord of the Rings, even though I’m not writing fantasy. LOTR starts very small and intimate, and gradually...

    Writing management

I have a character arc/plot points document done in Excel, with coloured text boxes that I can shift around between chapters. This helped me fill out each chapter from beginning to end with what goes where.

Turning book into comic. Is it a scam?

I had one offering to turn my story into a comic, and to message them to discuss the commission. I said great, we can also discuss MY commission for the use of my story. They deleted their post. I am an avid comics reader. A comic is a collaboration between writer and artist. It is not...

Any fellow genderswap authors interested in a shoutout swap?

Hi! First time browsing the forum - I've just started posting my story A Turn of the Moon. It's a slow-burn, day-by-day look at a couple where the husband has been turned into a woman by a lab accident. Kind of a cosy-ish relationship drama that starts off very small and contained (in their...
