My last 2 years in college we had a teacher from India who was not the best at first (frequently someone in class would literally shout out the term he was using as his accent led to some very odd pronunciations that did not sound English at all) who was AFRAID to fail anyone but the only person...

Should the sites like Scribble Hub use the 5-star rating system?

As long as people understand that the ratings are subjective and, other than to the person giving them, pretty much meaningless, any rating system (or none) is fine. Now, if there was a technical breakdown, that might "mean something" more than just "This is my opinion" I would love to see a...

Favorite Author/Book/Webnovel and least favorite Author/Book/Webnovel?

Sounds like the highly controversial film "Sucker Punch" (which I think I'm the only person on Earth who has a "neutral shading to positive" view of it - most people I know either LOVE it or utterly despise it). King is great until the last 20 or so pages of anything longer than ... well ... 20...

I steered clear of the LitRPG genre for a while because I thought this is what it actually was - until I had a writer (the late James M. Ward - who got his start doing game books for TSR!) explain more what it was, six years after I first heard the term! Ah, from 1984... I was in 11th grade then...

Had something like this ("Free Reading" from an "approved shelf" - though you could bring a book from home with the teacher's permission) in sixth grade - but we did not have the game book stuff. We did have Classics Illustrated, and I usually alternated one of those with something else. We...

    "And then everyone clapped" moments

Occasionally I catch myself writing scenes like that and USUALLY stop myself or tweak them a bit.... usually. Don't recall running into one elsewhere (unless facetious posts to Facebook count - then I could find two accounts rife with them in about fifteen minutes of searching old posts)...

Favorite Author/Book/Webnovel and least favorite Author/Book/Webnovel?

I may be a bit of a Philistine myself but not much of a pop-loving one. And I could go older - if you look at it as literature, there are some truly fantastic stories in The Bible (more so in the Old Testament but there are some beautiful sections in the NT as well), for example, and there are...

To the Authors there who draw

I've always been a middling artist at best (my best work before I started developing a slight tremor around 2003, was in painting three dimensional miniatures; I've also had some success with simple 3D art packages on a computer ... kind of ironic for someone with only one fully functional eye...

    Which cover should I use?

In theory at least, if not in practice.

Favorite Author/Book/Webnovel and least favorite Author/Book/Webnovel?

That's OLDER? For me, Edgar Rice Burroughs, H. P. Lovecraft, H. Rider Haggard, J. R. R. Tolkien, Edgar Allan Poe, Johnathan Swift, Alexander Pope, Alexandre Dumas, Victor Hugo... THOSE are "older ones"... :D

Do you ever listen to music while you write or brain storm.

I used to but haven't for quite some time now.

    Which cover should I use?

Without knowing the novel, I'd go with either "Screen_Shot_2025-02-14at2.55.51_PM" - the first one (clearest font and an interesting, mysterious image) - or the fourth, "SSS.jpg" (mostly due to again having a much clearer font, though it does have more of an animation feel than a novel cover).

Reading Chinese novels is starting to feel like a chore

Wait - do you mean you are exhausted, or do you mean you need to be put before a jury?

I Blinked and now I’m Famous

There's just something basically charming about the characters, especially Cyrielle.

Reading Chinese novels is starting to feel like a chore

Sounds like most of the audiobooks my wife likes are Chinese Novels if this is the standard. This or the Talen series (My Vampire System, My Werewolf System, My Dragon System, etc.), which are very Japanese.

Favorite Author/Book/Webnovel and least favorite Author/Book/Webnovel?

Have not read enough webnovels to have a favorite author and any "least favorite" ... well, I never finished the first chapter of so don't really count. Favorite authors in print are probably Ramsey Campbell and Robert Bloch, though Douglas Adams and Sir Terry Pratchett also rate way up there...

Why did you create your stories? And what motivates you to continue?

Back in high school, I found a friend's copy of "X-Men/Teen Titans" one day when we were waiting to get something started (not sure if it was waiting for another friend to show up so we could head out, or for everyone to get characters done for a game or what) never got far into the story - got...

Best platforms and/or apps to help write effectively on mobile and/or desktop devices?

Back when they included free use versions with Windows it was what I relied on, but now that you have to subscribe to it I only use it when a job requires. Now I use OpenOffice or LibreOffice on my laptop and GoogleDocs on my phone.

So, don't need money, don't need fame, don't need a credit card to ride this train?

    Do vampires bleed?

That depends on the specific flavor of the myths and how recently the vampire was turned. Generally true but sometimes they produce a dhampyre, a half-human, half-vampire creature. Sometimes this happens because the woman was turned while pregnant, but usually it happens after turning. Is...
